Hi Folks...Do you burn your rubbish??? I have just gleaned this info from a friend who has notified me of yet another DEFRA regulation not commonly known. (Like most things!)
Apparently after 15th April 2007 you can be fined, ( don't know how much), if you burn rubbish and are not in possession of a FIRE EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE issued prior to 15th April 2007. The form you require for this is WMAW01 and you can get one via 0845 6033113.
This is a continuance of the new waste regulations that came in force last year. There's a long list of what you can and can't burn and apply to waste from farming activities, (not muck heaps).
If in any doubt if this applies to you get the forms and register - after the deadline its too late.

What are the penalties for not having a permit? Will there be inspectors?? Let them come and check the residue of my bonfire!! I burn the rubbish they don't take from our kerbside collection bins. They are so pedantic. They say they want to collect separated refuse, but insist you have to buy a specially coloured wheely bin for it. If you put a sign on your old bin saying 'recycle bin' they take it; but woe betide you if that washes off in the rain. They just leave the bin full of paper etc. And as they only collect every two weeks it's not possible to keep it all a month. They don't seem to have a sensible brain between them.

Hi again, just rung them, I applied forAgricultural Waste Exemption last year and already am registered to burn plant matter waste [ exemption 30] so this is covered by that. I expect this rule only apples to those who didnt register last year. If in doubt ring and check though. |
