Was reading on al discussion the calm and condition feed thread, and had to laugh as people were saying what they use for feed measures etc, and someone had said what a load of cheap skates we all were!!! The reason i found this so funny was becouse i had to take a sample to hospital with me last week and realised i had not picked up any free bottles from hospital, my husband and i popped down the chemist but they wanted 50p!!! for 2, so i thought stuff that and took my sample in a VANILLA ESSENCE bottle What have you used and made do with in the past present and for what reason?

This should be a brill thread...LOL, and it definately applies to me,I use bailing band for just about everything, mending rugs, fences...you name it! We even tied up the leg on our caravan last year as the winder broke....bailing band to the rescue!!yey I have also used pop bottles for taking samples to gp/hospital I'll probably be posting again on this as my OH is the perfect steptoe ( not to look at though) Will post on your other thread, but just to say glad you are feeling so posative. |

I use a washed out large dog food tin as a feed scoop. Holds about 1/2kg of mix. Works for me. |

I use multi surface polish for mane and tail conditioner. Make my own fly repellent. Disposable nappies for poultice wrap. |

Yeeuuw Jilly, hope that's not the jug you make the gravy in???!!!
When I was preggers first time round, we had a load of ewe sampler bottles, so I took my pee sample to the docs with the lable "Bluebell" 3 yo mule ewe!!!
My first "proper" feed scoop was made from a bottle of fabric conditioner, cut diagonally from the handle to the base (my Dad was an engineer). I was only 10, I'm so glad my Mum washed the bottle out thoroughly, I could have had a badly poisoned pony!!!
Our poor baby orphan lambs have to put up with 2nd hand teets donated from the local hospital, I feel like a pikey asking my Nurse friend to pick up the spare teets, bet she feels worse though!!!!

MMMM vanilla pod custard!!!!as i was thinking that in my head i heard homer simpsons voice and my body is looking a little like his too!!!!! Well i must be just a tight bag then, mind my hubby says moths fly out my purse!!!!
Were always running out of loo roll at ours, kids use it for everything, so out come the kitchen rolls and i saw them in half with the bread knife!!!!
Rabbit thrives on horse mix!!! and horse shavings and shreded paper out of shredder,
Designer pump bottles eg.hand wash in bathroom and kitchen is cheap tescos economy!!!!
I buy cheap t shirts from primark in summer and sew designer labels on which get removed before going in bin when worn out, so these labels could be 20 years or more old!!!
Dog lead is horses lead rope
Keep pens that come in charity envelopes and use last years xmas cards for xmas labels!!!!
Wine bottles when emptied become candle holders for garden summer parties
And now for the worst!!!! ive been known to be to lazy to go upstairs my excuse bad knee knob!!!! and get hair band ,so took my thong out of clean laundry basket and tied my hair up!!!!till i ended up at the garden centre and my husband said bl--dy h--- youve got ya knickers tied in ya hair still!!!! go and sort ya self out!!!! not to worry tho had it cut short 2 weeks ago!!!!so no need for hair thong!!! |

Mum uses old rubber gloves ut up to make elastic bands.
She saves envelopes and reuses them, sticks new labels over the address and seals with sellotape
Baler twine used to repair anything and everything at the farm
Mane and tail shampoo for horses works on human hair as well
Bag balm (cow udder cream) is used as hand cream
Last years cards get reused and pens and gift bags get recycled as well
Same with the 'designer' hand wash etc in bathroom, its the supermarkets own brand
She does the same with breakfast cereals, buys supermarkets own brand and empties them into the branded box
BUT she has never yet tied her hair up with a thong!

Who doesn't do the s/market handwash in designer despenser (I DO TOO). I use baby wipes for stable stains on horse, cleaning his face and bottie and even for cleaning my shoes (who needs polish)
THE TYING HAIR UP WITH A THONG THING TAKES THIS THREAD TO A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL!!
