Really pleased with myself - I'v e just completed my first pleasure ride on my new horse and he was a STAR!
The ride was only 10 miles but there was almost 300 horses entered and it was a hunt-style ride with hunt-type people galloping past you at 100mph!
He cleared every jump I pointed him at - some about 3ft and didn't bat an eyelid at anything. He had a little buck in excitement but nothing nasty. But the most surprising thin g of all is how fast he is. We had the opportunity of a few long gallops and having never had the chance to do this on him I wasn't quite sure what to expect. MY GOD, CAN THAT PONY SHIFT!!! All the power from his back end came into play adn I felt like I was flying, grinning ear to ear and tears running down my face (it was quite windy!) He's on ly 14.1hh with little stumpy legs but we passed many more horses bigger than us and best of all HE HAS BRAKES!!
Off now to put my entry in for next years Grand National!!

Hi Paula,
Yes it was Frampton on Severn........I'm really gutted I missed you!!! Were you at the start point or somewhere round the course?
What a well organised ride don't you think? 293 was the exact number of entries, they raised just shy of £4000 I think.
I was so pleased with my little man as he's got a reputation for being a bit of a b****r on these type of rides but he was faultless!

I am literally sat here kicking myself cos we were so near yet so far from meeting - That's unbelievable!!!
I would like to move a bit nearer to home but the set up I have at the mo is ideal, my friend looks after mine while I'm away and vice versa. I also break in a lot of her youngsters for her in return for v cheap livery - she's a good friend of mine and I feel I would leave her in the lurcha bit if I left. I also rely on her a fair bit for transport to shows - too young to tow without taking the test and too poor to buy a 3.5 tonne vehicle!!! Thanks for thinking of me though!

PS - Do you know lady call Jean Spratt - I went round with her today. |
