I was just saying goodnight to my youngest cat Poppy when I noticed that the two scrapes (one next to her bottom and one on her side) she had recently acquired were now infact sores and she is balding round her tail and has more patches on her back!!
I have no idea what they are but they are obviously not scrapes as I thought......must be a skin condition. She seems ok in herself. Typically it's now a weekend, but I think i'll have to pop her to the vets first thing. Any ideas anyone. Thanks, a very concerned Anna! xx

Thanks Pat, panic over...it's a flea allergy....ick fleas. So she's had a steroid injection (vet insisted this was necessary) and I'm frontlining them both again tommorow.
It's the blooming stray that keeps coming in here and pigging their food and spraying over everything (generally my new v expensive sofa)!!
Have to dash as she pee'd in her basket which has leaked through to the car seat - just waiting for the kettle to boil.... ...to think that I was going to have a leisurely bath and deep condition my hair, do nails etc......!!
Bless my little Poppy.

Good Luck then. Hope all is well.
I have a problem with an un-neutered tom which is owned by someone in the flats at the big house,http://www.fishergerman.co.uk/file/1759/the-heath-house-estate.html my nearest neighbours, which is half a mile away. I have 50 acres, and my cats dare not go out because of him. Hes a bully, and my cats are miserable, and the latest vets bill has put the lid on it.!!
I have ordered a cat trap. When I get him he will be neutered and then released back out again. Its worth the £35 for my lot to be able to enjoy the sunshine in their own garden so to speak!!!! Irresposible owners are the worst!! |

Gosh I don't blame you Pat. I am going to call Cats Protection about this one. I used to shoo him away as I thought that he must have an owner and he was just being greedy but now that I've had a chance to look at him I think he's a stray. I now feel that I should leave the poor old sausage some food - but that doesn't help my girls (Poppy and Ella) at all!
I had a neighbour who bought 2 kittens, they grew into young cats, brother and sister, I kept telling him he must get them neutered, wormed etc. Anyway, he got a bit bored with them, got his schoolgirl girlfriend pregnant, bought a staffie puppy...... little cats were petrified, little girl cat got pregnant, had kittens somewhere mid winter (I pointed out to him that she's come back half the size and covered in blood). He didn't even attempt to find them. So I spent many an hour going through derelict buildings and gardens etc, they appeared outside the house 4 wks later (2 of them) others can't have made it. By then he had disappeared, leaving the two older cats homeless. Unbelievable! I couldn't have them as I have 2 so we got the RSPCA to take the mum and kittens and a neighbour took the tom. God knows what happened to the staffie and their new baby!! Humans leave me speechless far too many times than I feel comfortable with. |
