No not the book but the programme just finished on Channel 4.
Genetic modification at its best, from supersized salmon to featherless chickens, glow in the dark pigs and rabbits to rice containing Vit A. All achieved through genetic modification and cloning.
Then we see the Belgium Blue cows whose double muscle mass has been selectively bred to produce grossly muscled cows which could hardly move achieved through decades of breeding 'desirable' traits. What crossed my mind was dogs that can hardly breath or have their own pups all in existance due to mans selective breeding.
I found it very interesting, and for once I guess it gave a more positive view of 'selective breeding' in cases such as the featherless chickens (even tho they were the UGLIEST looking things! Taping it for school as all our videos are so out of date the presenters all wear brown cord flares
