The most I've ever spent was 2500. This is not down to me being Scottish and tight fisted, but more down to the penny pinching attitude of my English husband!!!!!!!

If money were no object though and it was the horse of my dreams, I'd spend whatever was necessary to secure that dream

Couldn't pay more than £3000 and I wouldn't pay more than £1000 for an foal. Of course if I was rich then who knows!

When the time is right to purchase a brother or sister for Pasha I will be willing to pay whatever the right horse is worth... as i'm not a breeder I would pay more for a youngster who's started it's education i.e. broken and schooled, but I wouldn't want to pay more than 1-2K for one that hasn't done anything regardless of it's breeding

I would pay what I could afford at the time.

The most I have ever paid was £2,500.

If money was no object, it might be different! Allot different!

it depend on the breed i think and the quality of the horse. looking at andalusians (which is the breed i want to move into eventualy) i think that we will be looking to spend £15,000 plus unless we drop on a bargin.

as for arabs, i have been lucky in that my mares were very reasonably priced. but looking on here i do sometimes wonder where people get their prices from. at the end of the day a good horse is a good horse and people should pay a good price for it.

it amazes me how much you can pay for something so small. but then concidering who is riding the so small is it any wonder we pay so much for their safety? as a judge i get sick of seeing children on ponies that are not trained correctly and the child of either scared of the pony or heading that way. then the parent says that they can't afford anything better! strange world we live in.

I paid £1500 for my daughters pony, because I wanted her to learn to "ride" Not just be a passenger. Last summer the local pony club asked to use our arena, and I was horrified at how many kids are " booting and hauling" these ponies. And so many of them , the "better" more expensive ones were simply " point and go" types. I did not want her on something that does it all for her. Now "Selena" will not win any ribbons in the beauty stakes but my daughter has to keep her eye on the ball, if she stops concentrating the pony just comes back to a walk. She will not just stop, or do anything mean, but if you are hanging on to her, she wont go, if you take your leg off, she slows right down. Its been tough for her to learn, but they are jumping now, and my daughter has the biggest grin when she keeps the canter all the way round the school. So, I think a pony like this is well worth the money. ....and my Arabs? ..priceless ! Polly

it depends on several factors. The most I have ever spent is £5000 but more recently I bought a super yearling gelding for £300.

If money were no object who knows! But I paid £850 for Honey 16 years again, sold as seen no vetting and with only the mud she stood up in. Wonder what that would convert to now? They were actually asking £1200 for her but dropped the price for me being an ex employee!
