If I was "looking" for another broodmare (which I'm not at the moment- unless of course.......!!!!!) to put to our old boy Rameed (Gaymet/Radsilla) http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rameed (hes 96.56% Crabbet) - what lines would compliment him??? I'm very novice regarding bloodlines - so can all you experts help/tell me?!! Pretty please!!!

Tis a hard one Judith , I know the breeding its Audrey Pauls bloodlines. I suppose it depends what you want from your resulting foal? any good mare would be ok but what ever mare you use make sure she has a good temperament , good conformation and is as sound as a bell! As a breeder I would always want the very best mare I could get for my money and thats what you should want. |

I am biased - but I would search out a nice Crabbet/Old English mare - but I am inclined to be preservationist! |

I would go for an Old English/Crabbet mare too. I don't know much about breeding but there is nothing like a Crabbet horse and it's a shame that more people aren't breeding these lines any more. |

If Crystal wasn't rising 21, Rameed would be my No.1 choice..just the type I'm keen on, big, sound, tough, and chunky! |

ours would mix beautifully, their a mixture of Indian King bloodlines Mikeno, all pure crabbet/old English, ludo i wish i was one of those folk who knows what would nick well? Like Diana Whitome knew Imad would mix well with Taretta ( Ghibli -Selinda ) and produce a quality foal on bloodlines alone- and she was spot on,but then Imad produced a smashing colt too out of an Hanif mare!!!! |

Judith, why don't you ask Egbert on the Female tail line thread?
It also depends on what you would want to do with the offspring - do you want to breed a future endurance horse for yourself? An allround horse for your kids? A horse that could do well on the race track? A show horse?
Also - do you want to preserve his Crabbet/OE lines or would you be ok with an outcross?
Your boy has A LOT of lines to Skowronek through Naseem and at least two through Naziri - so it's no wonder he's pretty. His damlines seen from the 7th generation are almost exclusively to Rodania and Dajania with a few others as sobha, feluka, yaskolka in between. His many lines to Mesaoud of course also means a lot of lines to Ghazieh.
How to breed him? Well, you know best what you want from a potential offspring, but if you want a foal that looks like daddy, you should perhaps look for a mare with many lines to Skowronek, Rodania and Dajania. I can't figure out how important the damline to Sobha is - it stands almost alone, but still... and Gaymet's damline is to Queen of Sheeba - that must mean something too...? Again, I think you should ask Egbert - I'm sure she will be able to tell you loads about these lines.
Best of luck with your plans

Hi Deboniks
Thanks for the comment about Sahara Sundance (Scarlett to her friends), she has vey precious bloodlines and is a lovely person. It is a very sad sale due to personal circumstances as she is the first foal I ever bred. She will only go to a very good home where she will be loved as she is here.

If you want Russian you can have Rima She's by Narim, so pretty exemplary Russian lines as I understand it. We could come for an endurance holiday for this year then let her down over winter & she can make babies with Rameed next spring |

Goodness - what a brill response!
Well Moonfruit - so when are you coming to stay - so I primp & preen himself for Rima to look at?!
Barbara - I've been drooling over your mare - Oh I wish!!! OH has seen the ad..........its not fair we are the opposite side of the country to you!!
Anfi - I want to breed a horse to keep - first and foremost to be a "family" friend, a nice horse to ride & also with endurance riding potential (this being my love!) - I have one of his sons - Rowan Razy - hes a wonderful confidence giving ride, lovely for a novice or fun for an experienced rider - totally unflapable under saddle - a real gem! We've done endurance together. I have been told by several folk that Rameeds offspring all have amazing wonderful temperaments - which they get from him - regardless of the mare!
This is Rowans dam - when we bought Rameed she was more or less thrown into the deal!! : http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rumbolds+contessa - together they have had several babies! My Rowan is apparently the only offspring (hes abso identical to his dam!) that hasn't looked like Rameed (chestnut with lots of white!).

Go for it Judith. Having read Egbert's posts, she is always more than happy to help and has such a depth of knowledge.

From the little I know about you but reading your posts, I would go for something with White Lightening in the breeding to pick up on the Bright Shadow(what a surprise from me, lol)...
I'd guess you wanted a well conformed leg in each corner and able to do a job with a laid back approach to life, huge eyes and pretty head...trouble is, there are just soooo many lovely mares out there of whatever bloodlines you choose!

I'm only half kidding Judith!!
Also saw a lovely broodmare for sale in South Wales for £1k by Silver Scenario (think I got that right). Can email you the ad if other folk think those lines would suit your boy. |
