Hi

I was diagnosed with Bresat Cancer in 2003 while I was pregnant. Thankfully I have made a full recovery and my daughter who had to endure the chemo with me is also fit and healthy although a little too determined at times!

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for helping raise funds and awareness that help people like me.

I too will be watching the Auction eagerly. My Nan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 5 years ago. She had Chemotherapy and the last resort may well of been a Masectomy (sp?) We were over the moon to find that she had responded well to an aggresive course of Cheme - and it was just astounding for my Sister and I to realsie just how many woman and therefore families it affects. I think Marie-ann has done an amazing job of setting this auction up, it can't have been easy and has taken a lot of hard work.

Happy Bidding everyone

ooooooh - I want them all!!!

Can I make a suggestion though, any chance you could put County location on the list of stallions please so I don't go clicking all the German ones or any who are miles and miles away? Lol.

I will have a bid.

Hi

My stallion is on there, Spanish Crusader. He is located in Suffolk between Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich and unfortunately suffered an injury as a yearling so hasn't been shown. He is 15 3", pure white, has a fabulous temperament (he is the love of my life!) and has his mother's huge black Spanish eyes. Apolgies that I have no good photos of him for the auction and as he hasn't been shown there are no professional photos.

His dam is a straight Spanish mare and his sire is the fabulous Crusader. He is pure white with yards of mane and a tail that sweeps the ground. His foals have all been good show quality, if you look at Sahara Sundance on the sales pages you will see her foal by him ( a tall elegant filly) and him in the background.

If Marie-ann was agreeable I would be happy to offer another two coverings to anyone at the same price as the winning bid as it is such a good cause. There are several A-Liners who know him and I am sure can add comments!

If anyone wants any info or to see him you can call me on 01449 737145 or e-mail at gregory_barbara@hotmail.com.

Regards

Barbara

I was diagnosed with breast cancer just over six years ago and i am always pleased to see fund raising events for this worthy cause. I had a masectomy, reconstruction, chemo and now tablets. The only thing on my mind was i never want my daughter to go through this and for the sake of our children this is why we need loads more research into this and every other type of cancer. Of course lots of men are diagnosed breast cancer aswell.

Well done Marie-ann for organising this auction and thank you to all the people putting their beautiful boys forward. Together we can make a difference

I have only just found out about this wonderful auction, well done Marie-ann for getting it together.

I lost my Aunt at just 65 to breast cancer (she was diagnosed at 40), bless her soul, she fought the whole way through. She loved animals and donated to most animal charities.

My Mum also had a malignant breast lump at 50, they caught it, removed it, and Mum is happy and healthy at age 83.

My best friend had breast cancer last year, had it treated aggressively, and so far so good.

I also felt an abnormality, luckily it is just hormonal and can be treated with a supplement, scared the pants off me though!!!

Big hugs to everyone who has had first-hand experience with this nasty disease.

I hope you got my email Marie-ann, Mr. Poo would love to donate a piece of himself to such a worthy cause. I am happy to go along with Barbara Gregory's generous offer of donating another 2 coverings to Mr. Poo at the same price. I just hope I am in time???

You are right Will, together we will fight this awful disease.

Carla, xx.

Fortunately my family so far has been spared breast cencer; there is a genetic link so we are fortunate, but the fact that none of my family have had it doesn't mean it can't affect you. I am pleased to hear that some of you have beaten it, prayers for those of you fighting it at this time.

My neighbour's daughter, a lovely person, died at 39 after a long fight against breast cancer, she had so much else going for her; it was tragic.

I just hope people will bid for Spanish Crusader as I have no good photos of him and due to his injury as a youngster he can't be shown as he is slightly unlevel in front. I was hoping they would have the stallion parade at Malvern as he could have gone there for people to see him. I haven't known anyone who has seen him who hasn't liked him. The Spanish/Egyptian cross is not called "The Golden Cross" for nothing. So glad I used Crusader while I had the chance, wish I had had my SE mares when he was here as I might have a SE Crusader son but that's life. I will try and find contact details for Marie-ann so she can at least give a few details about him on the auction site and highlight the three breedings. If anyone wants more details or to see him please feel free to contact me.

I too have gone through Breast Cancer during the last 2 years and when you are diagnosed you feel that your world has fallen apart. I had a mastectomy and also surgery for skin cancer at the same time (not related, just bad luck).

But you have to pick yourself up and get on with life and all who have written above and those who are quiet are living proof that if you can be positive rather than negative it helps to keep your mind on a level. Also my horses were a great support to me - I had to get up, even on days when I felt like hiding away, to see to them everyday as Alan was away and we had no one else to look after them.

I think that the more open we are about this inconvenience (which is what it is) the more aware we will make other people (men and women - whilst in hospital I saw a tv programme and a man was going through breast cancer) that your body is important and you should check yourself regularly.

I actually went to the hairdressers on Thursday for the first time in 18 months to have my hair cut - my hair came back as good as it was before and my hairdresser couldnt believe the good condition of it - so for all of you who are bald at the moment, remember it WILL come back...

If anyone ever wants to chat about this, please feel free to email me on alan@griffithsalan4.wanadoo.co.uk or call my mobile: 07830 107403- as the old saying says "a problem shared is a problem halved" and we all know this site is great for this.

Marie Ann, I would be more than willing to offer a covering from Memfis (Maysoun/Alyetta) SE stallion champion 2006 UK Egyptian Event.

regards Jackie

My grandmother died as a result of breast cancer and my mother had a bilateral mastectomy when she was in her late 30's. She is now a healthy 72 years. I have a daughter aged 27, who was educated very early on on about self- examination of the breasts regularly, which can save lives too. Not a day goes by without thinking of my dear grandma who died at the age of 60 to this dreadful disease. Also my mum who was very brave throughout her ordeal, but is living proof it can be successfully treated.

Marie-Ann I would like to donate 2 breedings to my stallion Piligrim for this wonderful cause

What a fabtastic idea and a worthy cause. I lost my mum to breast cancer in 1991 when I was 8. Although I won't put my mare in foal until I've had a good few years riding out of her it's a wonderful idea.

Would it be possible to put another stallion on? I will ask my friend tonight who has a high % Crabbet Stallion at stud here in Scotland. I'm sure she'd donate a covering if I ask her nicely.

Your stallion is beautiful Barbara but unfortunately he is too far for me to travel my mare, which is a shame.

Good luck everyone who is bidding and thank you to all the stallion owners for being so generous.

Hi Nuttybabez

What a shame, all of his foals so far have been good show quality but sadly I don't use him as I breed SEs but I don't want to sell him as he is my baby and once he leaves here I have no control over what happens to him. He is a happy boy here and I let one of the mares in the yard to share his haynet. I have a video of him sharing a haynet over the stable door with his "wife" and baby! He is out during the day and comes in at night and so many stallions don't have much turnout and never get to see a mare except when covering.

I hope someone will use him as I can't afford to give £250 to breast cancer but am happy to give his covering fees.

Barbara

I do wish you well with the auction - and hopefully we will hear how much is raised for breast cancer.

I found it strange that on the site, there is no link back to arabianlines yet other sites have full advertising via banners.
