If possible I would like to find out more about Hartley's family. His Sire and Dam are as follows:
Amach (Amal x Emucha) Zenara (Shirar x Zenza)
I would like to know about other progeny they may have? Also are they both still alive and if so how can I find out their whereabouts?
Also I understand they both raced, is there anyway to find out how they got on?
Also does anyone have pictures of any of them?
Any info gratefully received

I have some racing information about them and will try and find out about progeny. Amach was a beautiful horse (as were most of trainer Karen Seers'). He won first time out a Larkhill in 1990 (20 runners) and then was 3rd behind the much more experienced Palomnik and Al Jabal at Aintree (11 ran). Zenara won 1st time out at Carlisle (20 ran) in 1988 then was 2nd that year to Miralda (17 ran). In 1989 she was 2nd at Hexham (15 ran) and 1st in 1992 at Larkhill (8 ran). |

I was reading through the AL magazines a few days ago and one of them mentioned that Sky Ballerina had a foal (Balmach) by Amach but I can't remember which magazine or what the article was about... not much help - sorry! |

Hi, just saw this post. Amach, that's a blast from the past!
I used to ride for his trainer Karen Seers and Amach was the first horse that I rode for her. This was in 89' when I was 15, he had just been broken in and was the most amazing steel grey, almost black with a silvery tail and physically very mature. Our first ride was spent for the majority on his two hind leg's as he'd seen some mares out in a paddock. Karen sat watching from her sun lounger outside her house as I manouvered past her cars, across the immaculate lawn and onto the gallops. After a few outings in this fashion he realised that it was infact fruitless AND he got left behind by the others so thankfully he stopped. He had a first and a third in 90' and I can't remember why he stopped racing. To be honest I don't think his heart was in it. I then bought him back into work again about ten years ago for Karen as she wanted him to dosomething, possibly to race and I think he was sold shortly after. He had mellowed alot but was still quite sharp. I have some pictures somewhere and if I can manage to scan them i'll mail them to you if you like.
On the subject of Sky Ballerina she was one of my favourites, I have some wonderful memories of her. Would love to know how she/her youngstock are.
Hope this sheds some light. Anna

Thanks Annas, I would love a picture of Amach, It would be great to see what Hartleys dad looked like! He sounded like quite a character!
Like you say it looks like Zenara did a fair bit of racing! Must be quite unusual for a horse to fall though, I guess it was probably due to clipping heels or something? |

Will try to sort something out for you ASAP. Do give me a shove if I haven't soon though...million things rushing around my head. Yes we only had 1 of ours fall and that was when a horse clipped it. It is rare in flat racing. |

I am so impressed with myself....I have so far found 1 picture of Mashy, here he is with Kashala, they were both in training at the time and mashy liked to have a chat to the girlies. Can't remember the name of the groom (it's terrible, I remember all the horses)!!
Will keep looking for more.... |

Thank you so much Anna, it's so nice to see what Hartleys dad looked like! Hartley really does appear to take after him, well apart from the colour of course!
