Has anyone come across a rose grey gelding called Deskannt, sire Desant, grandfather Aswan. I have purchased this lovely horse and interested on any of his history. catherine.

I think I know someone who used to own this horse.... well, i assume it's this horse because he had a Desant gelding and there are not many Desant offspring in the UK.
I have a Desant daughter, she is a lovely broodmare who is 14 this year. |

| I bet she's gorgeous, is she on one of your pictures? Deskannt is a gorgeous little horse, hes had a rough time, hes really trusting me now and has come on leaps and bounds. he'll be 8 this year. Do you have any photos of Desant? Who's your mare's dam? |

Hiya,
yes, she is a very nice mare. She is straight Russian and was bred at Tersk. Her dam is by Muscat, who is the full brother to the stallion Moment, who is Desant's maternal grandsire.
Muscat was chestnut and Moment a grey. My mare resembles Muscat in looks, she is chestnut with a white blaze.
The first horse in my sig pics is her 2006 filly foal and that filly is a mini-me of her!
I have been in touch with the lady who leases Desant. They live in Austria. She has a good website with some pics of Desant and some really nice offspring by him. It says on the website that he is available to use by frozen semen.
As far as Russian stallions go, he is pretty typey and seems to sire some nice horses but he wasn't really widely used for siring show horses as you never really come across many, I don't know why.... personally if I was a Russian breeder I would take a chance on him, I can't think of another Aswan son that you can get semen for. Anyway, he is a very old man now. This is the link to the website:
