Hi All.
Ok in another sticky position (sorry). I received an email yesterday warning me about a post on another website, this was someone from my yard posting about Shambar. Basically to put you all in the picture, when i moved back to my old livery yard a friend had a mare she wanted to put in foal with Sham. To me, no problem, he was fit healthy and up to weight.
We covered the mare and then i advised her when to have her scanned bla bla bla, and i applied for the paper work from AHS. A while after i started asking questions when is she going to be scanned ect. The girl said to me after a period of time " i spoke to the vet and they said they will not scan after 50days" this i thought to be suspect so i called me vet and told her the situation. My vet basically said she has never heard such rubbish (bear in mind this girl is renowned for her rubbish talk) so i went back to the girl and said look i have spoke to the vet and she has said that its rubbish and to give her a call, this she did and was adviced to call back Monday to book a scan ASAP.
Basically the issue it, Shambar is due to go to his new home on 22nd December and this has been a long drawn out issue, i have been trying to assist the girl best I can but she wont help herself. She has now turned round and told me she cannot afford the scan, my response was "why put a mare in foal (if sheis in foal) if you cannot afford to breed?"
Anyway i have now said i will not be helping you any more as it is a waste of my time bla bla bla. We are now boiling down to the paper work. Im usure of giving her the paperwork if the mare has not been scanne in foal, Do i give her the certificate?
They have posted something on another website that has really hurt me to be honest becasue i have done nothing but try to help this girl out and they have posted on another website as if im trying to fraud her out of her paperwork for a foal that may not exsist. I have tried so hard ploughing all my money into my horses to ensure i can gain something from this and its dissappointing when i get feedback like that from small minded people.
What should i do?

My guess is that you only give the covering note once you have been paid the stud fee. If she has paid you and not scanned, that's her problem but she should still get the covering note. If she hasn't paid and doesn't want to scan, don't give her the covering note, but I'd take her to court for the stud fee if she then gets a foal and still doesn't want to pay the stud fee.

It is a lesson learned. Im sorry as i thought she was a friend. I didnt ask for a stud fee, she expected me to do this for nothing however i was addiment that i wanted a contribution towards him which she did do.
Its her problem, but i guess im trying to do the right thing |

I dont know how much you charged her for the covering, but my guess is its not going to be worth taking her to court, and if you had nothing in writing! well what can I say! |

Im not wanting to take her to court or any action against her. Im asking whether i should hand over the documents even though im unsure if the mare is in foal or not? |

I would give her the certificate anyway, life is too short and your boy is going to be going soon so no use in having an atmosphere on your yard.. If the mare has a foal, great, if not it is not your problem.
If you ever have a stallion to breed from again, then you must cover your back with written agreements, even with friends! It covers both parties in case of dispute.

Glad you have found him a new home, can you tell us where he is going and what he will be doing? What a super Xmas pressie someone is having this year!
We are coming to a New Year, give her the cert and start with a fresh slate. Good luck. |

I have jsut got off the phone to her, i will be giving her the cert later today and will let her get on with it. she was shocked to hear whats happened online as it was actually another livery that posted it, sticking there noses in, therefore all has been resolved.
As im new to this i guess i wasnt sure what would routinly happen with the cert and needed some advice so i thank you for that. |

Well you will keep the top copy anyway wont you? so that if there is no resulting foal she cant use the registration or sell. personally I would see no harm in keeping th whole copy until foal is born. if she had the covering for nothing there is nothing lost. |
