OMG just seen the photo!
Anyone know what's happened to the pony - whould it be able to cope with having its feet dealt with after that long?
Don't take the Western Mail - doesn't cover our area - but I think I might start reading it now!
Sly's fine - hairy, muddy - he comes in at night - spoilt boy! Pleased to hear his mum is fine! Must come down to see you! Coming down to Camarthen for the antiques fair fist weekend in Dec - wonder if we could visit then??

what's all that BS about her not being able to look after the poor pony - it's such an unnessesary cruelty when it would have cost her £10 every few months to stop him suffering and she wouldn't have even need to raise a finger - ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING |

I wondered what would happen with his feet, i know with dogs that when there nails are left really long the quicks (hope thats how u spell it)grow really long dont know what happens with horses. I dont know where they went I know there is a rescue down there somewhere so possibley gone there, I beleive in Karma so I hope it pays her a visit. I worry when mine have a split in their hooves. Yeah Judith let me know nearer the time and you are welcome with open arms |

Sound to me like a load of BS as you say Claire, how much energy does it take to pick up the fone ring ILPH/RSPCA and say can no longer look after animal properly, also for an owner with no energy etc how come horse looks very clean - well groomed or is it just me, Jodie |

Beau - I wonder if the length of its feet would prevent it lying down - if it did - how would it be able to use its feet to get back up - if you see what I mean? Its mane looks very tangled.

thats horrible! i cant belive that people can let horses get in that state. thats why i reccon when people have a horse or pony they MUST go on a course to make sure they can look after them. |

How does a farrier start to treat hooves like that? I'd like to know how, and whether the horse's feet have been brought back to any kind of normal condition. It's staggering that they could get like that. If she had a syndrome that made her depressed and lethargic, how did the horse get food? I can't imagine its feet would have got like that in a field, but in a stable, perhaps. |

i think the farrier will cut the excess off and slowing cut shorter and shorter over a long long period, poor animal will always have foot problems as its foot axies are too low walking on its heels worst then a lami pony. GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! if i was running the world all animal cruelty the people who own/look after them should have it done to them. do this lady wouldnt have her toe nails cut AT ALL!!! MWAHAHAHahahahaha! |

probably specialist shoeing to help him as well...poor little man! And if she had this "syndrome"..why didn't she sell the poor little sod so he could have been looked after properly? some people...just totally beyond belief! Judith..I agree, if she was near me..I tie her in a stable for ten years, and leave her feet in that condition..there is no excuse for stupidity! |

Bearing in mind that one doesn't need a licence or anything to keep a horse (or most other animals, come to that) how does a 'ban' work? I mean, what's to stop the person calling into a pet shop/sales yard on the way home from court and buying another animal?
Also, whilst I have sympathy for the woman IF she is genuinely ill, even being ill does not excuse such long term neglect: I expect she fed herself and got her toenails cut... if she could manage that (or even if someone was doing it for her) she could ask someone to help with the horse too.

I think this is an appaling thing to do I watch a lot of animal planet when I get time and two days ago I watch animal cops huston the animal police had just arrested thre men they had arrange an illegal hores race one of the stallions feel and broke its leg the owners dragged this poor horse with the bone out of the skin in to a trailer still alive then drove 5 miles home dragged it back out of the trailer cut its neck and let it bleed till it was almost dead and then cut it up for meet with a chain sore. one of the men even took photos of his mate doing the deed. there were two other horses at this property which were rescued and now have new homes the three men were found guilty and were sentenced to 10 years in prison. what is the world coming too. I am sorry if reading this upsets you!!!!!!!!! |
