I dont have the stud name. I had gelding called Manny on loan from him about ten years ago. When Mr Redddihough died back in 2002 his last 3 horses where all put to sleep ( Mandy ,karman, lotty) It was very sad. Over the 12 years i knew him he lost the last of all his horses to very old age. |

I saw this post and had a moment of nostalgia, I went to see High Command a number of times in the late 70's he was a lovely horse with Oran and Irex close up in his pedigree. I lived in Yorkshire for 12 years before coming home to Wales and we were blessed with horses such as High Command, Silvadoris, Bey Shadow and Rajeyd all within a short distance. Though I like old English breeding we also had the fairy tale stallion Bakkir El Sabbah by Argos, who left me with a life long love for these perfect little polish horses.
Sorry, back to High Command,, Elva, though an old lady was still alive then (Countb Dorsaz/ Olivera), and the youngsters were Nakala, Elmanda, Mavala and Karman, they were all chesnut and good movers. As you knew Mr Reddihough I'm sure you have photos etc. I have got High Commands stud card of the time with a photo and would be very happy to copy it for you if you haven't got it already. I'll have a look through my old photo albums to see if I've got anything else. The stud was called Winterburn Hill Farm, Warley, Halifax. Hope that helps Mandy |

Hi Mandy I would love a copy of High Commands stud card. Did John show his horses then. I keep my horses in the field next to Winterburn farm but all the horses have long gone. John helped us so much with back our horses although at that time i only had part breds its only the past 3 years that i have got into the pure breds. I think working for Ess-Jay Arabians pushed me more to the pure breds they have two really nice crabbet stallions. I see Johns wife Audrey most days but can never find the courage to ask her about the horse scared of opening old wounds i guess, But maybe after 4 years the time might be right after all she might like to talk. I bet she would have lots of old pics of some of the great old horse from the past. Maybe tomorrow i might pluck up the courage. The real sad thing is john died one cold winters morning when he was tending to his horses. |
