I know we've discussed this before but I'm trying to get an idea of a reasonable rent in my area. So if anyone has horses at livery in Cornwall or Devon or knows any prices and what you get for your money could you give me something to go on? Grass keep, grazing and stable, grazing stable and school all DIY not full or part livery.

Hi Lisa, I have currently got Spooky and Austin at grass keep at a fantastic place down the road from me - it is a 2000acre estate and the riding is fab. Grass keep is 10pounds a week and many of the fields have shelters. I think a stable is an extra 20pounds a week which is where it starts to get a bit more expensive. The only drawback is that hire of the indoor or outdoor manege is extra - I pay a reduced rate of 10 pounds an hour because I use it alot but it is a fantastic place to keep them - there are plenty of tracks, water crossings, there is easy access on to the moor and Peter Cook comes up every few weeks if you want lessons although I think the owner is a BHSI and she does lessons as well. There is also a bit of a XC course. Soory should have mentioned I live launceston side of okehampton

Hi Lisa,
I keep Freddie on a smallish DIY yard. We have ample grazing winter and summer and are able to let them "live out" all year if we wish. There are 16 stables. 13 in enclosed barns and 3 in a block outside. I pay £12 for an inside stable, outside is £10 also £10 for grazing only. There are no field shelters. We have no electricity but a generator. Automatic troughs in the fields but not in the stables. This also includes the use of an outdoor sandschool (unlit),locked tackrooms and we each have individual good sized hay and straw/shavings storeage(25 bales). Riding is mainly restricted to roadwork although there are a few bridle paths. This is in south east Cornwall.
