Dear Jude,
I'm really sorry to hear of your loss - he was one of the lucky ones to be in the same loving home all his life. I am sure he has left you with lots of wonderful memories, it's these that will stay with you forever. RIP Santanna.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
Thinking of you ((hugs))

Don’t cry for the horses, that life has set free A million white horses, forever to be Don’t cry for the horses, now in God’s hands As they dance and they prance, to a heavenly band
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep As they close their eyes, forever to sleep Their spirits abound, on silver wings they fly A million white horses against a blue sky
Look into heaven, you’ll see them above The horses we lost, the horses we loved Manes and tails flowing, they gallop through time They were never yours, they were never mine
Don’t cry for the horses, they will be back some day When our time comes, they will show us the way On silver wings they lift us, to the warmth of the sun When our life is over and eternity has begun
We will jump the sun and dance over the moon A ballet of horses and riders, on the winds to a heavenly tune Do you hear that soft nicker, close to your ear? Don’t cry for the horses, love the ones who are here
Don’t cry for the horses, lift up your sad eyes Can’t you see them as they fly by? A million white horses, free from hunger and pain Their spirits set free, until we ride again

Sorry to hear of your sad loss, we have Zibak who is 24 years young and worry about losing him, they all become so much apart of the family.
Wonderful that you brought him in to this world and saw him out he was very lucky to have you. |

Maybe Santanna stayed this side of the rainbow for a while to help a friend he never knew. He was used to being out at night and just maybe his spirit stayed to help Mike's poor horse who had never been out overnight but who got in trouble.
I'd like to think he did.
Gallop the rainbow with pride now sweetheart. |

Words cannot express how grateful I am for all your kind and supportive comments, through this site and the many phone calls and e.mails I have received.
This week has been a tough one but I've tried to keep busy. I suppose even at 25yrs I never expected him to go so quickly but thankful that he didn't suffer. The stud is very quiet without him.
Rachelle I do hope Santanna stayed long enough to give support to Mike's stallion - what a lovely thought.
Thanks again. |

Judith,
Have only just seen this thread - I'm so sorry to hear your news. He looked superb in the photo - I love the old fashioned lines, they're such proper horses. I had tears in my eyes reading this, but at least he didn't suffer and you know he had the best possible life. I know nothing helps at such a time, but you will have lots of lovely memories when the loss is a little less raw. |

Ohh Judith, I am so sorry to read this. It brings tears to my eyes I know how it feels But I am glad that you were there for him when he was put down, I am sure it made him feel safe. When Sagr was put down a year ago I put my hands over his nostrils to make sure, I was the last thing he would remember and to be sure, that he knew I was there for him to whole time. It was hard, but I would for anything in the world be there for my greatest love ever. And so you were for Santanna also, and there is nothing more we can do. As Sagr, Santanna also had a good life where he was loved and taken very good care of, and he will never forget that. And his mum and sister will meet him I am sure. Sagrs father also stood there to welcome him with some of his brothers too. Yes, you have to have something to belive in in such difficult times.
I send you all my best, Sagr and Santanna is playing now |
