I have used a henna shampoo on our show hunter who is a dark chestnut, it worked really well and gave a nice glow, can't remember which brand it was off hand. It was off a tesco shelf though!! |

Word of warning over human shampoo,i used one from wilkinsons last week and my mare had an awful reaction to it,huge lumps all over her body, thankfully i hadnt used it on her head. Supreme products do an excellent shampoo called high shine, which does what it says on the bottle,it stinks a bit though!!! |

Hi
I have used Cowboy Magic now for ages and have every product (I think) all of which are fantastic for any colour horse.
It used to be hard to get hold of and I would have to buy in bulk in case I ran out but my local saddlers has it in stock so I am happy!!

I'll put my hairdressers head on now
If you all new what the likes of Pantene and head and shoulders do to your own hair and scalp there would be no way you would use it again, let alone on your horse!!! Beware!! Debbie |

Well said Debbie...these shampoo's are not good. I used to use Susan George's for the horses..the white one and all visitors found it super also, so it stayed in the shower!!!
I must say I love Cowboy Magic and Supereme products. |

Using dermolene antibacterial at the moment to get rid of all the winter nasties... will then use Supreme and / or Cowboy Magic for show prep
... we used to use 'human' shampoo on our horse but he atrted to get a really scurffy mane... now it's horsey only all the way |

Hi,
I have always used Human shampoo on my bay horse! Also absolutely swear buy all Arena show products do the same job as supreme if not better but they dont have the hefty price that goes with Supreme. The owner of Arena show products is at all of the major shows, and supplies some of the Top Trainers in Europe and GB, he does the full line inc a great Tea Tree shampoo ideal for this time of year.
You may have even seen him and you wouldnt know what he does, please dont hestitiate to contact me and I shall forward on his contact details.
Good Luck

Hi Debbie, does the same go for the Aussie shampoos?????
I also use Cowboy Magic for the horses and find it great. We also use a "natural" locally made shampoo (can't think of the name at present). Will check the label tomorrow and let you know |

Hi Jude, The PH of the skin differ between animals ie dog shampoo should not be used on horses and vice versa. I was using Aussie as it is one of the best human shampoos. It seemed better than some cheap stock shampoos. All shampoos vary in quality and price. This time of year I have found Dermaline anti-bacterial shampoo works really well and it is made especially for horses. So if you have to use human shampoos Aussie comes top but it is better to use a good quality horse shampoo.Always rinse well. |
