Does anyone have any photos/info of this stallion please. I believe he won at Ascot and Haydock, but apart from that would like to know more about his background too. He is 22 this year so any piccies would be late 80's and early nineties. He is by Maleik El Kheil out of Queen of Diamonds and was bred by the Duchess of Rutland .

Thankyou Jude you're a star . Lovely to see him as he was in his heyday. Can't wait to see him out and about again.
By the way Chris, Sharik is now owned by me. Keith has given up with Arabs and decided to breed Welsh B's and riding ponies instead.

I've just seen this thread and recognised the horse's name and low and behold there's the photo I took many moons ago which is what I was going to post about - it was taken for the "Illustrated Guide" I compiled. Will he be out in the veterans this season? I don't recall him being shown all that much but I do remember he went to Ascot. |

Hi Marilyn
Yes he most certainly will be venturing out in veterans this year, when we get him up and running. He has settled in extremely well considering he has had the same home all his life and my OH is really taken with him. I wonder Marilyn, do you have any more photos of him at all ? I would appreciate it if you could have a rummage to see if you do !!
Hi Lynn
Thankyou, we are situated on Manchester/Cheshire border. We have only been here since August 2004 so relatively new (5yrs) where Arabs are concerned. This is where PILIGRIM is based and a mixture of Russian, Egyptian and Polish mares. I have only just got it together with my little stud as we have spent the last 18 months building stables, a manege and 3 1/2 miles of fencing - phew. We have 44 horses at present - Thoroughbreds, ' golden oldies', rescues, indeed almost anything from a miniature Shetland up to a Shire/Irish Draught so quite a mix of breeds. My absolute passion though is ARABS. My husband is a Thoroughbred man although he is now getting Arabitis quite badly must admit. It gets to us all in the end doesn't it ? Bur Sable , her 2yrs daughter CAS Harmony,2yrs grand-daughter CAS Arianna and her yearling colt CAS Black Diamond are also here at the moment on livery . The children will be shown this year for sale in the catalogues as Susan is retiring from breeding. Bur Sable will hopefully have a foal to Piligrim next year.

Congratulations Janet , didn't know that Alison and Keith had finished with the Arabs . I remember showing Sharik under Mary Anne Wragg he was 2nd not sure who was first I just remember it was a premium stallion but strangely enough Mary Anne started the rosettes at second placing as she thought entries forward where not worthy of a 1st place , quite an insult I thought , wonder how she would feel if the same was done to her . I wish you well with Sharik the photo is lovely of him , I remember his foals , he should be of interset to coloured breeders as well a Arab as he is really well bred .

Hi Chris
Thankyou, I didn't know you showed him but then that's why I posted on here to find out all about him - well, as much as! What a helpful lot everyone is on here. Hopefully he will be making a few appearances this season after his long absence from the show ring. If you can give me any info on any of his foals I would really appreciate it. Hope to see you in the very near future.
