Posted - 13 Apr 2018 : 10:27:45 AM Our swallows returned to South Yorkshire today. Lovely to hear their little chitters in the barn, cheered up yet another gloomy, rainy day.
(Thought I would start the annual post even though no one posts on here any more.) |

Posted - 14 Jul 2018 : 9:03:24 PM We have lots of Swallows , they are just starting to prepare their second nests for their next broods of eggs. Odd how they do not use the same nest for second batch. Sadly no Housemartins thus yeR , the house sparrows have taken over all their nests. We had guests in the henhouse this year, a rabbit made a nest in the corner under the straw, seven baby bunnies and she raised them all, they were so cute . Loads of birds in the garden, sadly one of the woodpecker fledglings was attacked and died, think it was the jackdaws. I have noticed no t many lapwings and curlews on the moor this year |

Posted - 12 Jul 2018 : 7:29:56 PM Both the usual swallow nest sites are occupied in my shed and the families are doing well. Sadly only one of the three house martin nests is in use though :( |

Posted - 12 Jul 2018 : 09:58:18 AM We have swallows and swifts and I only saw a few of each at the start of the season now there are lots flying about so they must have been very successful.
I managed to park my car in exactly the right spot so that when the babies came out of the nest on their maiden flight the flat roof of my car was the perfect landing spot. A few overshot and went down the windscreen though.
We have so many wrens and thrushes, not just at home but out in the lanes. |

Posted - 11 Jul 2018 : 10:58:51 PM I haven't had any swallows this year. I usually have at least 2 nests. They aren't even sitting on the telegraph wires I do miss them. |

Posted - 15 Apr 2018 : 11:42:41 AM Facebook happened I did post once or twice but not many do that anymore except for bumping up the Peel post-which is good but not much use if no one looks at the forum anymore. I spend quite a lot of time on fb myself (too much really) but I miss the forum and the Arabian Lines fb page seems to be only sales.
Edited to say swallows have been here a good month already but then I'm in Italy |

It's a shame no ones posts here-what has happened to everyone? Am I missing something. |
