Posted - 01 Oct 2017 : 8:16:05 PM Just wondered if anyone rides in a dressage and a GP saddle and which you prefer? I have a LM GP saddle which I love but my arab is so bouncy when I have my lessons he bounces me out of my GP saddle. My instructor thinks I would fair better in a dressage saddle. I would keep my GP for hacking but use a dressage for flatwork and the odd dressage test but don't want to go to the expense of another saddle if I don't need to. My instructor doesn't want to stop my boys bounce as she says his paces are beautiful. |

Posted - 21 Oct 2017 : 8:36:44 PM I also loved the Celeste which is the endurance saddle , my mare loved it when we tried it but I needed one to jump in and the Celeste was not suitable for that. I have her a Jaguar dr saddle so did not need two flat saddles but if I ever got another I would go for a Celeste for endurance. |

Posted - 19 Oct 2017 : 11:08:42 PM I love the one I am using at the moment but it's just a loan saddle until I get a new one, I like the look of the show hunter they don't advertise it anymore but my saddler said they will still make them to order. |

Posted - 19 Oct 2017 : 8:52:20 PM Thankyou for explaining I now understand. Got to say I love Black Country saddles , I got a Wexford made for my pba with reverse doeskin seat and knee grips and it is so comfy just love it. |

Posted - 18 Oct 2017 : 8:23:55 PM my bigger Arab is much rounder with a much flatter back with not so much wither I have used my lm saddles on him but found they slipped I think they are just the wrong shape for him, he suits a more close contact flatter saddle, I currently ride him in a wh black country saddle which fits really well no movement at all, I am considering buying a new black country for him but his just returned to being ridden after being lame so am just waiting to see if he remains sound once his back to normal work. |

Posted - 15 Oct 2017 : 7:12:51 PM Pinkyboots having never seen or used a LM saddle what do you mean by they move around too much for him, just interested as always good to have feedback on saddles . I have to admit I had a Black Country made for my pba last year and I just love it, got to be the most comfy saddle I have sat on and I have been riding for nearly 50 years I was sat on a horse at 3.5 yrs and I think my parents thought it would not last |

Posted - 05 Oct 2017 : 7:36:43 PM I just have the riding club but it is lovely best money I have ever spent, I struggled for years to find a saddle arabi was comfortable in and I wouldn't use anything else on him now, he to has a forward girth groove which is one reason I didn't want a dressage girth, funnily enough the LM saddles don't suit my other Arab they move around to much on him. |

Posted - 05 Oct 2017 : 11:13:09 AM Thanks Pinkyboots. I have tried a my friends LM VSD but didn't feel much difference to my GP. I would have short straps on mine too as Pip has a really forward girth groove and it has taken a year to find a curved girth that doesn't rub so now he is happy in my current girth I would like to keep it which would be ok as I will have one made, like you. Did you go for the RC or splash out on an Emblem?
Yes have to agree LM saddles are so nice, love mine, ride both of mine in one. |

Posted - 04 Oct 2017 : 6:30:49 PM I have a LM dressage saddle for one of my horses which I use everyday I have got an older LM gp but I never use it as I much prefer the dressage saddle, I bought it from new so I had regular short straps on it as I prefer a long girth and I do ridden showing so it just looks like a brown show saddle in the ring, I personally would never buy a gp saddle again for either of my horses now, if your unsure perhaps you could try a vsd which is between the 2 as well as trying a dressage saddle and see what you prefer.
The LM saddles are so lovely I love mine:) |

Posted - 02 Oct 2017 : 8:43:56 PM I use both but if doing flatwork I prefer a dr saddle, my friend has bought herself a vsd but she dose not jump. I think you will find the dr helps with the bounce as it puts you in a more secure place. You could always get your saddle fitter to come out and you could try one first and see how you feel. |
