For all that have been reading and posting any threads relating to Rachelle and Evie Peel:

I completely understand the need for there to be discussion and opinion surrounding the devastating crisis that my family found itself in in 2013, whilst I was some 200 miles away at college; and which found my father being diagnosed, as a cruel irony of this crisis, with a rare and terminal form of dementia.

I too have read every post and every thread concerning my mother and me and our horses. One thing of significance has caught the attention of me and my mother, my mother's legal team and indeed the police. It is this that I feel I need to voice, not only for ourselves but for those that are unaware.

A poster on here claims to have bought documents direct from the Court and in doing so, has led many of you to believe not only gross exaggerations but complete lies.

Barbara no one owes me anything for the papers at all they cost me peanuts quite literally.........and when I have them then I can either post copies to those who want to read them, but I warn you all now they will not make pleasant reading at all if not then I will scan a copy and make a file for people to read if they wish to.

It is this claim that seems to have lent credence to any lies posted not only about my family but about the crisis of 2013.

THERE IS NO SUCH COURT DOCUMENT

The following e-mails are a confirmation of this

Dear Mrs Peel
Thank you for your enquiry
The Magistrates' Court is not a court of official record and so there is no official transcript of the proceedings as such. As
you may be aware, the proceedings are not recorded.
Individual notes of the evidence and submissions are made by the advocates, legal adviser and judge for their own use and
assistance. They do not constitute an official record of the hearings.
Copies of my notes were given to the advocates to assist in preparing for the appeal.
I will make enquiries of the administrative office to see if anybody else has requested a copy of the notes from the file. I am
not aware of any such request. It would be most irregular for them to be provided to a member of the public.
I would expect permission to be sought from the judge for that to have occurred. The judge's notes have not been requested
or released to any third party so far as he or I am aware.
I will contact you when I have any further information.
I hope this assists.
Regards

Dear Mrs Peel

Further to my email below, our Admin team have confirmed that no such request for notes has been received.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

Kind regards

There may well be a document that you are all relying on but it is not official, it is not a Court document and it is not the truth.

The trial lasted for 5 weeks and for over 450 hours. The poster who claims to have attended Court says she attended regularly. This lady did indeed attend Court: for approximately 3 hours spread across two days.

FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, THE FOLLOWING ARE ALL FACTS AND ACCEPTED BY ALL PARTIES IN MAGISTRATES' AND CROWN COURT

1. Rachelle Peel and Stephen Peel were each charged with 34 charges under Section 4 and Section 9 of the AWA.

2. At no point was Evie Peel ever charged with any offence.

3. The case against Stephen Peel was stopped in 2014 by the Prosecution upon the confirmation of Stephen Peel's illness.

4. 7 charges against Rachelle Peel were dismissed in April 2015 due to lack of evidence.

5. In September 2015 Rachelle Peel was found NOT GUILTY of 23 charges and GUILTY of 4 charges. It was accepted by all parties that Rachelle Peel was unaware of the situation and the guilty charges reflect what she should have known. These 4 charges related to Section 9 of the AWA and were:

- 14 horses needed mucking out
- 2 horses needed hooves trimmed
- 1 horse was claimed to have untreated rainscald. It was entered in evidence that Pig Oil had been applied twice daily but the Prosecution expert deemed this insufficient.
- 4 dogs were kept in a room deemed by the Prosecution to be too small

6. There were no charges and no question what so ever that Rachelle Peel caused or contributed to the death of an animal.

7. Rachelle Peel was found NOT GUILTY of any charge relating to the body condition score of any animal because evidence did not support this.

8. Any surviving horses (a total of 12) were ordered by the District Judge to be returned to Rachelle and Evie Peel.

9. There were categorically no horses on loan to any member of the Peel family.

10. An Appeal by Rachelle Peel was scheduled to be heard at Preston Crown Court on June 2nd 2016.

In May 2016, at the Prosecution's request, a pre-Appeal hearing was held, at which all charges and convictions against Rachelle Peel were quashed. The Prosecution stated that witnesses who had undergone rigorous cross examination during the trial, refused to appear. After thorough questioning by the Judge, the Prosecution conceded that evidence during the trial had been inconsistent and due to the lack of severity of the charges, it was not in the public interest to resist the Appeal.

11. All horses, if referenced in Court were referenced by exhibit
numbers. No names were "read out in Court."

12. Dowlands I'm Hello Dolly WAS NOT, as poster Edgevale states, identified as one of the "rotting bodies." This was proven in Court due to the fact that at the request of the Defence, the body "identified as Dolly" was exhumed by a vet, examined, and proved scientifically not to be her. All references to this horse were removed. Dolly was not dead, has not been returned and still remains missing.

13. There were not in any way, shape or form, 15 dead bodies at the premises. This is entirely fictitious and was never even suggested by the Prosecution or in evidence.

14. Rachelle and Evie Peel were not given the chance to remedy anything once they had been alerted to the situation. They were not given the chance to ask for help (from the very people that are now mounting a personal vendetta). They were not allowed to contact any previous owners or breeders.

15. Rachelle Peel passed contact details of previous owners and breeders to those removing the horses and asked for people to be contacted since she was prevented from doing so.

16. Rachelle and Evie Peel were told by certain individuals in a professional standing that all the horses were alive and indeed some had been re-homed. This was proved to be a lie when it was discovered during the trial that the many of the horses had been shot and were dead at the time this statement was made.

As has already been said, open discussion is fine if it is the truth. A good majority of what has been posted on this forum is grossly exaggerated or entirely false. What has been written in this post is fact and can be validated. I have nothing to hide and no reason to lie.

I have no idea why people have chosen to lie but neither am I prepared to spend my life justifying myself when some of you elect to believe the exaggerations and lies rather than accept the truth.

My mother has been vindicated in the Court of Law. I was never charged. Whether you agree or disagree, those are the facts and judgments, based on the decisions of those who heard over 400 hours of evidence, not those who already had an issue with us or who were not privy to the evidence which did not support the charges.

This posting is a necessary step. I have appraised you all of the truth and the falsehoods that many of you are claiming, posting or relying on. I suspect many of you will choose to carry on but please be aware that you are now in possession of the facts.

What happened in 2013 was a family in crisis and just that, whether you chose to believe it or not.

ETA: Rachelle and Stephen Peel did not fence judge at Cholmondley Castle. Rachelle has fence judged previously but they were not at the event. Their names were in the catalogue but they were not there in person. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA Matter of Court record: dogs, cattle and sheep remained (and still remain) on our premises and in our possession. In March 2013, despite horses being removed dogs, cattle, sheep and horses were left on our premises and in our care. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA The Court case frequently mentioned relating to sheep and Stephen Peel in 2009 was not an animal welfare issue and there was never a suggestion it was. It was simply an animal byproduct issue (failure to dispose of carcasses). This is fact and can be verified.

ETA I was not, and am not now, in anyway involved in this Court case. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA I paid for an entry at Somerford Park Horse Trials in the BE100(Open) on a returned horse, on 19th of July but I did not compete. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA Contemporaneous evidence submitted in Court showed that there were no identified offences for the horses removed. It was for this reason that the horses were returned. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: 2 horses died on the premises in the space of 48 hours. These were in the same field. Exact cause of death was not established because despite requests from Rachelle Peel, a post mortem was not allowed. It was suggested in Court that sycamore poisoning may have been a cause. Cause of death was found not to be neglect or cruelty. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: There are sycamore trees at the premises despite comments to the contrary. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: The original charge sheets contain only the charges not the level of "detail" that has been quoted on here. Charge sheets are not transcripts and should not be described as such. This is fact and can be validated.

ETA: The "details" provided on this forum were supplied by only one witness (verbatim quotes prove this) and the evidence from this witness was disproved and the witness recalled three times. This is fact and can be validated.

ETA: No new evidence is presented at an Appeal. It challenges evidence already presented at trial. It is on this basis that Rachelle Peel won her Appeal and all charges and convictions were quashed. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Despite not being part of the case, I was in the process of contacting each of the people that either bred or sold a horse to my family. The abuse I received for this meant I stopped. The inaccuracies in "the Lost Ones" are many. The inconsistencies in the evidence provided by the Prosecution means that the only horses that I have accurate details of are those mentioned in the Mail on Sunday as being shot by the RSPCA,and those listed below:

Horses Returned

Templars Orchestral Pearl (Harley)
Templars Magic Pearl (Mouse)

Mysticfold Charming Boy (died of complications with colic)
Je t'adore (Sia PTS broken leg)
MWA Madkour (Muds permission from owner not obtained in time for PM but body examined by vet, suspected ruptured aorta)
Horse on loan to Silversun and in our care (PTS by our vet on welfare grounds with preexisting aggressive melanoma)
Euphorbia (Owned by Silversun and in our care, examined by vet and died shortly after, ashes sent to owner)

This is fact and can be verified

ETA: "Is it true that your husband at the time of this 'family crisis' only had 2 years to live which is why his charges were dropped." No this is not the reason the Prosecution dropped the charges against Stephen Peel. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: The only horse "dug up" after it had been "buried" was the controlled exhumation of Oakthwaite Shamtar to verify that she was not Dowlands I'm Hello Dolly. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Rachelle Peel was not working at Northern Rock at the time. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Stephen is not driving. He is not insured on our current car. This is a fact and can be verified.

ETA: Barbara Gregory: the phone call between you and Evie Peel was recorded including the somewhat comforting comments you made wishing Evie luck for the future, and that you do not have an issue with Evie Peel, just her mother. Evie Peel also alerted you to the fact that many people were relying on false information which you conceded. As a point of clarity, Evie Peel was 10 years old when you sold your horses to Rachelle Peel. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Evie Peel was at college full time, living away from home starting Sept 2012 until July 2014. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: On a more personal note, I will not demonstrate remorse for something I did not do. The fact that many of you refuse to believe that I had nothing to do with the crisis of 2013 shows you are unwilling to believe the truth. Remorse and grief are very different things and I most certainly feel grief. This is fact and every day verifies it.

ETA: Several of the horses that were shot were in my name. Edgevale Against All Odds (Pip) falls into this category. Why they were a) removed b) shot and c) I was not informed is something I cannot answer and is something I am still waiting to find out myself. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Your list spans a period of over twenty years. The problems with your list are:
1. It contains horses that do not and never have existed
2. It contains horses that were nothing to do with this case and nothing to do with me (some of these predate me being able to walk!)
3. It contains horses that I have already addressed (eg Dolly)

One I can clarify however, is Mouse's 2013 foal. Mouse was loaded on the same wagon as Taragun and was in the next stall to her as Taragun collapsed. She too was loaded with stallions hours before the journey and upon being unloaded she was put in the same stable with Legz who at the time was an entire two year old colt. She aborted her foal three days after removal and we were not informed about the death. The aborted 10 month foetus was subsequently frozen. The sex of the foal was not determined prior to freezing.

This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: "I do believe RSPCA are only interested in the high profile cases that will probably gain media attention, so to remove so many of your horses (that to be honest that weren’t in the worst condition in the world compared to the state of horses usually removed by the RSPCA) there must have been a reason". There was no reason and the vet who attended did not recommend removal. This is fact, stated and evidenced in Court and can be verified.

ETA: This is Evie. Your refusal to accept it is me and your ongoing speculation about events is only creating more confusion, is not serving any purpose and shows just how little you know about me.

This is fact. Obviously I cannot verify it, but it's the truth. As has been the case for three and a half years many of you choose what you want to believe, for what purpose I do not know.

I have shared every bit of knowledge I have. I cannot tell you something I do not know even though many of you have convinced yourselves that "I must know more."

Your ongoing speculation and conjecture, regardless of how high your emotions are running, is not going to change the facts. What is in my post is fact and can, and has been, verified.

ETA: Sadika - you have quoted the Prosecution opening statement. These "facts" were disproved during the course of the trial - hence the NOT GUILTY verdicts. There were two, and only two, recently deceased horses in the field which I have already identified. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Catherine1960 (Christine) what you have quoted was Evidence in Chief. You were not there for the Cross Examination and did not see this evidence challenged. You have only quoted allegations not proven facts. This is fact and can be verified.

ETA: Edgevale and Jackiedo: the case against Stephen was dropped because of the nature of his illness, not his life expectancy. He does not have Alzheimers and there is no remission. The illness affects the frontal lobe which means that the Stephen Peel I knew as dad, no longer exists - he's undergone such a massive personality change and often acts like a child. From the support groups we attend, other families have undergone similar traumatic experiences which lead to diagnosis. Had we known of his illness, there is no way he would have been expected to look after any animals. It was the outcome of this situation, that was so out of character, that alerted us to the fact that something was badly wrong with him. He still doesn't accept he's dying and he doesn't accept he's not well. He receives medical support from the GP, Lancashire Specialist Mental Health Unit and the Cerebral Function Unit at Salford Hospital. Yes, he does still potter about and attempt tasks (under supervision) - this is on the recommendation of the psychiatrists to help him feel valued and as occupational therapy. Both me and mum would love it if he was in remission or made a miraculous recovery but he isn't and he won't.

ETA: Edgevale: Stephen lost almost a third of his flock in floods and the ground/water conditions meant he couldn't get to them to dispose of the carcasses. He wasn't the only farmer to lose a significant number of sheep that year.

ETA: Midge - yes she was Shammy's daughter. Shammy was one of the two horses that died in the field (she was in the same field as Midge). We were not allowed to post mortem the horses to establish cause of death. A week after the other horses had been removed, we were still awaiting instruction as to what to do with the bodies and when one of them burst, we took the decision to bury them. Shammy was mistakenly identified as Dolly and we had her exhumed to prove that she was not Dolly.

ETA: Dolly: she's missing and that's all I can say. We contacted the Trakehner Breed Society to enquire if her passport had been returned. All we got was a torrent of abuse.

ETA: Any horses that were mentioned in this case have been listed above.

I've only just read through all these related threads... I had no idea that anything like this had happened - absolutely horrific, and the mess the RSPCA made of it is inexcusable. So sorry for the horses, dogs and presumably other animals who suffered, and all of you who didn't even get to see any justice done at the end of it or even get answers to your questions. I'm not in the 'horsey world' so quite insignificant, but just know that these horses are in my thoughts tonight and their story has had a real impact on a complete stranger. It is frightening to know that the family still have animals and that they think they can just brush it all off.

Agree, husband "poorly"?. Evil away at college with no care responsibility at all? Peel woman working full time? How could they run a "working farm" with so many sheep, horses and dogs = disaster, neglect for sheep, dogs and horses. By their own excuses they agree their guilt!
sab2 Posted - 17 Sep 2016 : 12:04:17 PM
No one person look after that amount of animals on their own properly, it's just could not be done and anybody who thinks they could are kidding themselves.

I know I couldn't
