Posted - 02 Dec 2014 : 4:18:11 PM Sadly this beautiful stallion passed away in his sleep last night. His owner, my friend Lou, is devastated as he was checked by the vet 6wks ago and everything was fine. I'm sure so many of you will remember him showing off in the showring - he was every inch an Arabian stallion - right to the end! Sleep Well lovely boy :-( |

Posted - 04 Dec 2014 : 8:02:48 PM A lovely story (apart from the beginning!) and so sorry to hear of his death but what a way to go: Qiuetly in his sleep having no problems leading up to his passing, what we would wish for all our horses.
RIP Sadik.

Posted - 03 Dec 2014 : 08:36:25 AM Glo - I remember the day you bought him, you phoned me to say you had a new stallion & for me to come & see him. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was Az Sadik, but the best part was the fact he was outside in his paddock grazing in the sunshine the first time I'd ever seen him doing that !! You started his "new beginning" and it continued when you sold him to Lou who owned him for many years, enjoying his life in Devon, living out with his mares & children who as you said always loved him - he had the perfect life with Lou & what better way to leave this world than in his sleep with all the people he loved & who loved him close-by. Run free Sadik xxxxx |

Posted - 02 Dec 2014 : 10:03:18 PM The first time I saw Sadik he was the most beautifully horse I had ever seen, later that year I used him on one of my mares, I kept in touch with his then owner, and at some point mentioned that if he was ever for sale I would buy him, (in my dreams) I did buy him a few years later, he was by that time a real challenge, I asked for the owner if I could see him out in the paddock, he was rearing and plunging like a mental horse as soon as he got to the grass he put his head down and snatched at the grass that was the first time I managed to get a hand on him( he was on the lunge line) I made up my mind then that I could not leave him there, back at home it was a night mare, after he had tried to pick me up by the wrist, I was sitting on a box thinking what have I done! He was self harming, biting his shoulders and in between his front legs, I made a decision that day, I was going to brake him and ride him, 10 days later I was hacking him out on his own, this was a turning point, we managed to turn him out with his mares and he loved the natural live, learning to gallop to the field shelter as soon as a drop of rain fell. He loved to go for long hacks and loved a good gallop, you could ride him out with other horses and mares, all his foals loved him and would rear up and try to Jump on him. He was a sweet loving horse.
He was a top show horse when I got him he had never had any contact with any other horses except to cover mares,he was never turned out, he was made to rear and have his legs wiped to show off, he had been sold and then returned as dangerous and unmanageable. I am glad that the second half of his life was a much better place than the first half.
Sadik was a sweet horse with a good temperament, put up with bad owners, and still had trust and love to give. He will be missed and my eyes keep dripping! |

Posted - 02 Dec 2014 : 6:28:58 PM Yes sab2 & garnet - that is the only consolation. He died at the home he loved knowing the people he loved were close-by. So sad. |
