Posted - 03 Sep 2014 : 6:30:53 PM Well we had a lovely day out today, the Border hunt ladies were running it at West Woodburn in Northumberland in aid of the Great north east air ambulance ( i think ) . We arrived and started to get ready when we were asked to join everybody for drinks, i haven,t got a clue what was in the drink but boy we both had top sit down, its was knockout and we both ended up a bit tipsy finally got horses ready and off we all went, had a lovely ride, quite tough going as very hilly but very enjoyable, i did take a picture of the view but was a bit overcast so not very good. After the ride we washed the horses down and lunch was served in the garden, i am not a meat eater so can struggle at bit but boy did the ladies put on a fantastic spread followed by the most fab puddings i have ever eaten, followed by cheese and biscuit, we had coffee but even more knock out drinks if you could manage them. My little arab mare has come out of retirement and i am giving her one last go , shes a very bad traveller on her own, she was again a star today so thats 3 rides off the trot where she has behaved herself in the horsebox, so long may it continue. On a very sad note a little old deaf border terrier had gone missing from the next village along to where i live, had a message today to say they had found him dead at the side of the road not far from us some b*****d had shot him, there are some scum lowlife about, the same village had somebody shooting cats last year, we are on a grouse moor and they will do anything to protect their bloody grouse so they can shoot them, may not be them of course, rip little one. |

Posted - 04 Sep 2014 : 10:25:20 AM Thanks everybody , this is my grumpy girl, she has suffered at the hands of mankind i am afraid and has issues, she will bite and kick if she feels threatened by anybody, we call her smiler as her ears are always back bless her but i love her to bits. Life is not easy with her but we have worked through some of her problems but some sadly will never be resolved but you learn to live with them . I am hoping to do a few more rides this year but i can only get away when my OH can stay at home with Percy as he has had a few setbacks , yesterday my son stayed with him, hes here on holiday from NZ, sadly he goes back next tue so he will not be able to Percy sit . Barbara sorry to hear your news, i shall eat some cake for you must be quite hard for you being a pudding lover, fingers crossed you will get sorted and will be able to enjoy the odd one or two in the future

Posted - 04 Sep 2014 : 09:52:17 AM Sounds fantastic, what a lovely day and lovely people.
The food made me drool. I have recently been diagnosed a type 2 diabetic (although I am not overweight so not insulin resistant just not producing enough) so I am on a fairly restictive diet and two lots of tablets which work in different ways and doing blood glucose levels four times a day (my fingers are like pin cushions). I do love my yummy puddings but sadly they now send my glucose sky high so they are sort of forbidden until things improve.
So sad about the little dog; there are some charming people out there!

Posted - 03 Sep 2014 : 8:07:57 PM What a grand day, out with your horse, in good company, good food and drink. It don't get much better than that and your lady is travelling well. Poor little old terrier and shame he was out missing so vulnerable to meeting some evil human or getting himself into trouble chasing livestock as I know dam well my old terrier would do if I didn't keep him safe. |
