Hello folks

Apologies if this is in the wrong part...I couldn't find an "introductions" section.
Just wanted to re-introduce myself back into the fold, after a gap of 5/6 years from posting on AL. I used to be a regular forum member..I think my old username was hannah28 (I'm now 35, can't believe how long its been since I last logged in as a contributing member!)

Many of you that were here in 2007/2008 might remember my numerous posts with pictures of my cats (Ruby and Pepper)...we hadn't long got them, back then, and picture overload was an understatement!
It was Ruby's 6th (yes 6th!) birthday yesterday and Pepper is 6 on the 21st of this month.
Will attach some pics to this post so you all can see just how grown up they are now!

Anyway, just a quick post to say hello & it's good to be back! I'm looking forward to being an active member of this amazing forum once again

Hannah x

Only just got a chance to look in on this thread again, and what a lovely surprise to see your fabulous pictures!! Sam the Man is absolutely gorgeous! And Red looking handsome as ever...I'm sure he doesn't mind not having anything to pull along behind him anymore...lol! Easy life, hey Red!? He looks like he's having such fun being ridden, and love his swish browband in the 5th pic down :)
Look at that glorious mane on Sam! Wonderful pictures, I love them all!

Sue, I'll get round to figuring out where my PM's have gone....and catch up with you properly soon!

Anna...Ooooo..Freya is nearly home! Excited much!!? Bet you'll sleep easier knowing she's back where she belongs after her little "re-training" holiday You must update us all on whether or not she has learned anything from her time away...not least, whether it's cured her bucking-bronc-itis! :)

Hello again Hannah, and thank you for your condolences. We lost Jim to a pedunculated lipoma only 3 weeks after the photos on my sig pics were taken - a time bomb waiting to go off. We visited him at Leahurst after the op but it was not to be and we lost him the following day. He taught us such a lot, chiefly the cob sense of humour and also how to drive - a godsend as I have been disabled since 2009 - illness started just as we lost both Jim and a very dear human friend. As my father used to say, we don't mind being sh** on but we object to having it rubbed in!

Garnet went peacefully in her field on a sunny morning 10 months later amongst her friends both human and equine. I was well enough by then to have been able to spend some time grooming her and on the day her legs gave up a friend drove me down the field so I could sit with her while we waited for the vet. She was just a few days off her 27th birthday, bless her. Reunited with her boyfriend Jim.

Next blow was the following year when our carriage tipped over and put Red off driving - fortunately not injured but made it clear he is not happy and won't be tried again. As I am not well enough to ride him a friend has been doing dressage and riding him at home while I have bought Sam the Man who has done us proud in the showring and is also getting me back in the saddle - my RDA pony as I call him. I can now trot a short distance and have my sights set on a walk and trot dressage before the year is out. When I get the pics on (separate post cos I always mess it up!) you will see he is a mini Jim. We had to buy him because when I phoned up the owners said he was called Sam so I started referring to him as Sam The Man and when we went up to Yorkshire to see him that was his passport name! He also has Jim's moustache! Sorry it's such a long post, and look forward to more of your new. xx

Hannah, I'm bringing her home today Very excited, and can't wait to get her home and start winter routine with her... Quite possibly going to a dressage test 1st week of November!!
I'll be posting later... You all need to tell me that she looks fine and isn't emaciated [completely paranoid because of the state she was in when I bought her] and that her feet look okay!! xxxx
Suelin Posted - 15 Oct 2013 : 08:42:26 AM
Whippets are very well Hannah thankyou. I will let them know that you were asking after them. You must come to see them and us. We never managed to do the visit thing before did we? I have pm'd you.

hannahbtw1978 Posted - 14 Oct 2013 : 6:06:14 PM
Thank you all so SO much for this lovely welcome back! It's just wonderful to hear from some familiar forum members, as well as the more recent members too
Suelin, how are you, my lovely!? How are your beautiful whippet girlies?

Anna, I've been following your trials and tribulations with Freya, love your posts as they are just so descriptive and you really get her character across! Is she home yet from her time with the stunt folk!?

Nat & Martha, thank you both for the nice comments on my little babies (not so little anymore!)...Ruby still has her cute days, every now and then...but mostly she just looks grumpy! The original "Grumpy Cat" lol

Welcome back!

Great to see piccies of your beautiful Persians.

Stunning cats

Hi Hannah!
I'm new, in as much as I've not been here 2 years yet.
I love it though!!
I have a Freya. She's part bred Arab, or rather part fairytale princess pony crossed with a demon.
Demented, darling pony has caused me a fair few sleepless nights! Looking forward to your posts

As for your cats... If I didn't live on such a busy stretch of village road [our last, and final, cat was hit by a car and killed] then I would be looking for fluffy like yours. Absolutely gorgeous!

Sazzle, I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss of Panache :(
I knew it would be inevitable, coming back here after such a long break, that people would have lost treasured animals...it doesn't make it any easier to bear, though....my heart goes out to you all. However, it's really heartening to hear that many of you have "new" friends in your lives...I love hearing the stories (and seeing the pics!) of the new relationships between people and their horses (and other furries!). It really is what this forum is about, and what makes it so very special :)

Don't know if you remember my horses? sadly no longer have panache - lost him 3 years ago to cancer

Welcome back Hannah, lovely cats, I can see they rule the roost!
hannahbtw1978 Posted - 13 Oct 2013 : 09:58:00 AM
Debs...the fluffiness comes at a price (i.e...no black clothing EVER! just waaay too much cat-fur gets "transferred") lol!

Vik, I'm sorry to hear about your two, you must have very fond memories, as these little creatures really do steal your heart. Ruby & Pepper are house-cats, through & through. They do have the odd (supervised) expedition into the garden, and Pepper loves to chew on grass (strange boy!)...but most of the time they are content to commandeer the bed

Vik1 Posted - 13 Oct 2013 : 09:35:48 AM
Wonderful cats!! I love persians. We used to have 2 which have both sadly passed away now. If I was in the house more I would have another in a shot.
debs Posted - 13 Oct 2013 : 09:31:54 AM
Lovely pussies! Love their fluffiness!
hannahbtw1978 Posted - 13 Oct 2013 : 09:25:58 AM
Awww thanks so much, folks!

It's really lovely to be back....and Ruby & Pepper send their love too

Liza, long time no speak! Do you ever get any updates from Pie's (not sure if they re-named him!) owners? Still think about him a lot, and miss him heaps x x x
