As what it says really, he never had issues being alone on the yard util last year, he'd stress when he knew people were coming and going to get their ponies, but until then no issues, today a complete stress bunny until someone came down to the yard, head and tail up being a complete pratt ... other horse came on yard and he was a dream ... ideas?

Ari the same as Baz, more than happy in winter routine in at night but can be a diva if he wants out in summer months. He has a full range of tricks banging, bouncing at door and lifting a leg to say I will if I have to! Door is padded with rubber and his tricks are all for my benefit; doesn't do it for my daughter who ignores him. He is getting older and I am getting wise so it's getting better. I take my dog to farm and attach him to hook on long lead outside stable and Ari has learnt that when dog is is unhooked he goes out, so Ari releases dog = get my attention, clever chaps these Arabs.

Baz is a bit like that, more the coming and going of everyone rather than the being alone. He's got loads better since I first got him but still reacts when people go out of the yard on a ride or if he can hear someone going up the road (even if someone else is still on the yard). I always give him hay and take time to get everything done before feeding him which is like a reward for waiting so long. Keep thinking about getting a mirror for his stable. He's fine in the winter when everyone is in the routine of coming in.

we have mirrors in all the stables, so when anyone is in alone ,they don't feel alone, works a treat !

I think it is pretty normal for horses to stress out when alone, or even when one of their buddies leaves. My welsh mare trots around neighing when I hack out Esme even though there is another horse she can see right there with her! I think if I was to spend time with her while someone else hacked out Esme, it would be okay, but left without her human leader or her friend, she does stress a little. She also calms down (eventually). By contrast, Esme is pretty cool when Millie leaves!

Is your horse able to see other horses?

You say he never had a problem until last year? so how long has this been going on. Is he in over night alone, if so then yes he will stress and get excited when people and other horses arrive, most horses hate being in alone, not really sure about the full details from your post.

Spider's always been exactly the same so I don't leave him alone, Marbahran not at all bothered (as long as hes got either a person or something to eat!) Just personality I guess!

I wonder what triggered the change in yours?
