Posted - 16 Sep 2013 : 10:54:07 AM for anyone who can remember me posting about my old boy Bracken (little fell type pony).he is my pony of a life time, he taught me everything and I felt untouchable with him by my side. but alas I was young and after many happy years together he no longer wanted to work at the pace we always had so I thought I was doing the right thing by putting him on loan to the local RDA, this was around 4/5 years ago. they then bought him off of me with the condition that when he retires he comes home to live his last days here. well a couple of months later I found out he had been sold behind my back and no one would give me any information. I had heard rumors that he went to a nice home but also more sinister rumours (it turns out this place was then under RSPCA investigation). needless to say I have spent everyday for the past 3 years trawling the internet looking for him, going to every local auction to see if he has ended up there and set up his own tracing page on facebook to no avail.
then out of nowhere two weeks ago I got a comment on an old YouTube vid of him, it was from his current owner!!!!
as you can imagine I was overwhelmed and we spoke on the telephone the next morning. she had had him for two and a half years, loved him dearly and he was only 20 minutes up the road from us
she asked me if I wanted to come and visit which was brilliant and was a very emotional meeting.lol. she had looked after him so well and loved him very much. she had been lied to about his age and not been made aware of his problem with traffic but still kept him safe.
to cut a long story short this wonderful lady has kept the promise that the riding centre didn't......she has allowed him to come home he arrived back to us yesterday and I cant even put into words how happy I am. I love this boy with all of my heart and I will never let him or another horse down again. I finally feel complete
this is from his arrival yesterday. hope you enjoy.
edited to add he will be 28 years young next april |

Posted - 17 Sep 2013 : 4:51:53 PM Thanks again guys. It just shows there is hope :) Today he is happy and sound so im pretty sure it was just the ground that had made him sore. I know it sounds daft but he looks a little younger today.lol. Think he knows hes home. :) |

Posted - 17 Sep 2013 : 08:57:51 AM Well done you for hanging in there :)
However a big boo to the RDA riding centre you sold him to - the charitable ways obviously do not stretch as far as their horses :( |

Posted - 16 Sep 2013 : 7:39:14 PM Oh, I bet you slept well that night. Thank goodness for your tenacity and never giving up. So often, you(people) trust that someone would do the right thing and contact as pre agreed with loans. I really feel for what you have gone through. With something like that it consumes your whole life....searching. This is a fantastic ending.

Posted - 16 Sep 2013 : 6:29:14 PM Thankyou all for taking the time to read our story. Hes still happy today but quite lame/foot sore from all his running about on the rocky ground yesterday. Hes all rugged up tonight as although its not freezing i would rather his old bones stay warm and dry. |
