Posted - 08 Jul 2013 : 11:19:05 PM Does anyone remember a stud of this name. Was talking to a friend tonight who has a Crabbet mare who is about 38!! and living out with a Stallion of similar age who she thought was called Prince Rajendra but having looked him up on all breed would be 41 so not too sure if it actually by him rather than him. Her mare is called The Lady Petra and she thinks Laybrook was the name of the stud who bred them and the ladies name was Marjorie. When Marjorie died she had made provision for all her horses but sadly the person she left them too just took the best and left the others behind despite having been left money to look after them all. |

Posted - 09 Jul 2013 : 11:02:30 PM Ooh thanks Gardenia in that case she was having a senior moment and remembering the mare's sire rather than the name of the Stallion she is with at the moment although I think he came from the same stud so could also be by him. And yes Shippam is the name she mentioned which I couldn't remember. Ah so the mare isn't quite as old as she said but still a good age bless her. |

Posted - 09 Jul 2013 : 9:43:35 PM According to Vol. 14 of the AHS Stud Book, The Lady Petra is by The Prince Rajendra x Pom's Pet by Zajal. She was foaled in 1981 and bred by Mrs. M.A. Shippam. I'm going from memory since it's a long time ago so I could be wrong, but I thought Mrs. Shippam was in the Chichester area of West Sussex. |
