An Arab should never be 'too fine' to ride, just because some are more fine boned than others, doesn't mean they don't still have legs like iron and the heart of a lion :-) But fair enough if you want to breed a chunkier type, there are many different types of Arabians out there, and they are all beautiful, the types that usually add more substance are probably English, Russian and Spanish bloodlines

Whereabouts in the country are you?
danielle01 Posted - 12 May 2013 : 2:07:46 PM
my mare is out of ali nebal and shakira gold. has a amazing temprement not the prettiest but that isn't a prob as her nature is second to none, id like to do some showing and maybe some endurance but shira is very fine,(to fine for me to ride).id like to have a bit more body with the foal,

With njo details about your mare and what you hope to use the resulting foal for, e.g. endurance, hacking, showing etc, any particular bloodlines, no one can suggest a suitable stallion. As others have said, where would you like to improve your mare; are her legs/topline/head etc OK or do any of them need to be improved? Do you want more size, substance, finer etc. There are so amny stallions out there but always remember just a pretty face won't guarantee a great foal. See what the stallion produces and, in my opinion, top of the list is a good temperament. However beautiful a horse is it is not nice to live with if it has a bad temperament.

Thanks for mentioning Mukhtar Pop :-)

If you want to breed then my advice would be that you need to look at the mare and decide what you like about her, and more importantly which are the areas you would like to improve upon. Then you can go about looking for a stallion that has the attributes you are looking for, and will hopefully improve the resulting foal so that you ideally end up with an even better version of your beloved mare. Another thing I would definitely look for is a stallion that has a good performance record, and not just the latest pretty face!

ps I def agree that buying is definitely cheaper than breeding, although not as satisfying

Depends - if for selling agree, but if for keeps and your mare good at what ever you do and the foal is being bred for a purpose, not a bad idea.

I will be doing it with Cinny, she's a FEI endurance horse and I'm planning for next generation

Agree with others there's so much choice now!

I echo what Guisburn posted... in todays market it is not really great to be breeding to sell...
& its a buyers market where you can buy great quality youngstock for silly money today...
If you are breeding to keep then have fun choosing the best stallion for your mare...

LOL at Pop!!! We once had a magnificent bull standing at the farm - if he'd been human I wouldn't have said no!

Every time I see H Tobago, I find myself wishing I was a mare, not sure that helps.

Then there is Marcus Aurelius.

I spose would be good to start with your mare breeding and what you want to do with the foal. And of course, do you need to breed, best not if you don't have to.

And there is also Muktar Ibn Eternity, nice horse, very nice.

There are so many nice ones. A few very nice Russians.

I don't really know, but I guess the experts will want to know what you are looking for as an end result.

May be easier and cheaper to buy a foal with the market where it is some fantastic animals around at the moment.........
