I'm so pleased I had to share this...My unbroken 4 year old breeding stallion I bought 18 months ago is just amazing!....I've only owned him for 18 months and after he was very lightly backed for 4 weeks I finnished breaking him in and spent a lot of time building trust and confidence and balance. He also had to get over his gelding op, move from breeders, then to my home and then to another livery yard. He had not seen anything, not even a bike when I'd bought him so had a lot to learn. He has not been to any shows or PR's or any endurance and has only been ridden in company half a dozen times max, and been in a horse box 5 times. I entered him into the 33k Graded Endurance ride at Findon last weekend and am so pleased with how he went. We rode on our own, with a couple to pass and a few passed us and his Heart Rate was....
36 BPM at start and an amazing 36 BPM after, great vetting and a Grade 1! Vet commented on his extremely good condition and even joked asking did I actually do the ride or did we hide in the car park!! We even had a riderless bolting horse come straight towards us on the SouthDowns Way in an open field and Saladin stood when I asked him to! He listened to me every single step of the way and was not even damp after! He was lovely and light to ride and never once pulled - lovely forwardgoing paces and fab at opening and closing gates! He is now 5 and a half years and think he will make a fantastic endurance horse as he is everything i wanted. he is also handsome enough to show and so I'm entering him into a couple of shows and also ridden and dressage as he carries himself effortlesly...

Ah..thanks to all my friends for your lovely comments, and yes Saladin is a handsome boy!. Saladin has truley changed my life in such a way that I never thought I'd be able to feel again after such a terrible personal time in my life. I have so many plans and goals with Saladin and just so glad he is such a safe boy and has such an amazing temperament - he is so humnan like its unbelievable. His father is Om El Shaheen and his mother Red House Ishtar. Red House Saladin (Saladin) is the last of Gudrun's five generations of her own breeding. Saladin has some georgous babies and as he was breeding right up untill I bought him 18 months ago he has some lovely baby sons and daughters with his Breeder, the lovely Gudrun. She is such a lovely lady and I always keep her updated with Saladin's progress. His babies are for sale by the way and if they are anything like his father they will be fab! Silverdale Arabians have Om El Shaheen (Father) and his description is exactly the same as I'd describe Saladin so he has his fathers temperament and looks! KES - if you are in West Sussex you're welcome to come over to mine to go for a ride together if you want - your boy looks georgous too!. LINDA - lovely to see you too and so nice to see someone I know on the way! - JULIA - Thanks, Spider is fast and fabulous and great they both get on so well - look forward to seeing you soon. SAB - Thanks and I was pleased I had a transport lady take me and stay at the venue as it took all the worry of driving away from me so I could enjoy the day. Will try and get some help putting pics on as I don't know how to do it! Bye for now xx

Missed you unfortunately because I was on duty at CP 6 and the 33km class didn't go though there. Glad you both had a wonderful day though!

He is very good looking (picture please Andrea) and so laid back for a 5 year old (much calmer than my rising 14 year old! ) Hope you do well at the shows too this year.

Well done you two , you did the same ride as me, I also did the 33km GER as a first ride, and you were parked and tied up close to me also - I remember hearing his name being spoken :) Hope to see you again and maybe say hello :)

That is a fantastic achievement, you must be bursting with pride! Well done you obviously have a very trusting relationship with him.
Did you manage to get any photos of the event?
