We used to have dressage as part of the week's line up - at that time I wasn't in to dressage but it was something that I thought was a good idea - competing in a discipline against others of the same breed. I was wondering if the Arabian shows in this country do something similar?
The reason I ask is that my part bred is a been there, done that and got the tee shirt ex show horse. I kind of feel at 13 he's knockin on a little to compete in the part bred classes, too young for the veterans. His schooling has changed a bit and he's no longer "anybody's ride" so ride judges won't really like him, and as my main discipline is and always will be dressage, I'm not that keen for anyone else to have a go anyway. Selfish that way ;)
He's coming along really nicely in the dressage arena (schooling some Medium work, competing at Elementary) but I wonder if sometimes he's put down simply because Arabs and PBs aren't everyone's cuppa tea. It shouldn't really be the case in dressage so long as they're correct - but I can't help but wonder how he'd do in a class of horses more like him.
So....is there something like this in the UK, and even better, Scotland?
