Posted - 14 Apr 2012 : 8:56:19 PM Anybody got reviews on the new cashel fly masks made in america and sold by KM Elite? I have had so many problems with high UV protectors and he is still burning his nose so have gone to america for a 70% UV block mask and we received it today :) fab size but the ears are too small his ears touch the tops (we have this problem with all fly masks I tend to chop the ears out)
Anybody had any dealings with them?

Posted - 18 Apr 2012 : 12:21:50 PM Love them have had them for pure breds and a part bred and they fit fine. However only have the normal ones no ears and no nose guard.I buy a new one at Hickstead every year from the stand that does Cortaflex Equine America. |

Posted - 15 Apr 2012 : 7:59:20 PM sorry mine are just the flymask in black not the sun protection... I only have Kira with a pink nose, and she likes our suncream cuddles.
as said though, they doe not fit my arabs due to being too narrow between the eyes so I will not buy anymore (I make my own now anyway) will ues the 4 I have though as they fit youngsters and might fit "Truffle" my new thoroughbred mare

Posted - 15 Apr 2012 : 6:53:17 PM I have no problem with fit on the Cashels - either forehead or ears - but they don't stay on my lot very long! They are always off when I next go up.

Posted - 15 Apr 2012 : 2:08:23 PM I think that they are brilliant and even better than Equilibrium fly masks. :)
I have the arab size for my anglo, but she does have a small head for her height (15.2 and a bit hh). She hates having sun cream put on her nose and she's not had any sun burn since I bought the Cashel FM for her.

Posted - 15 Apr 2012 : 1:52:13 PM Excellent bit of kit, sunburn no more! Though as pointed out they need frequent washing or the liquid in their breath mixes with snotters and dust to clog the nose piece... Nice! But they wash up well so it doesn't really matter Chopped the ears out of mine too. |

Posted - 15 Apr 2012 : 11:50:57 AM I've had them and they are really good but my boy hates they nose piece, so this year I've bought a shires one with nose tassels and he finds this much better as the mesh doesn't get clogged with dust around his nostrils - much much cheaper too |

Posted - 14 Apr 2012 : 11:03:40 PM they dont fit any of mine... they are not wide enough between the eyes for champ, kwi and elsie... Arab size fits kira but she is only two so Im sure she will also have problems later. |

Posted - 14 Apr 2012 : 9:47:22 PM I've got one, and I chopped the ears out, it works very well (it's the horse size, but I had to shorten the nose flap). I use it for flies rather than UV as Lily doesn't suffer from sun burn. I like the amount of space it gives over the eyes. Still looks new after one summer's use (washes up fine). |

Posted - 14 Apr 2012 : 9:41:00 PM Love the cashel masks they are brilliant, I've had a friend sending them to me from carolina for years but I find the Horse size fits better than the Arab... which doesnt leave enough room over the eyes. My sister was the one who asked my friend to get them as her mare has had severe uvitis in the past and these have kept her free of it for around 3 years. I would chop the ears if I was you it would sit better on his head.. |

Posted - 14 Apr 2012 : 9:26:52 PM I have one that I bought last year, as I was fed up with having to re-apply sunblock. Although what I was using did the job (Westgate Gold Label Sunguard), my girl hates having her muzzle messed with, and would walk off if she saw me coming with the tub in hand. So I thought I'd invest in the flymask with nosepiece, and not have to use a fly-fringe either. Strangely, she didn't get even a touch of sunburn all summer so I never used it! More money sat in my tack box! And for some reason the flies weren't bothering her much either, so even the tatty old fly-fringe didn't get much use. Lol - not much use to you I'm afraid, 'cos I can't comment on how effective they are, but I DO know people who really like them (which is why I bought it). p.s. Mine fits my girl fine, ears and all.
