Well I thought that Fayre was retired having failed to recover from a fractured pelvis due to a fall in the field about 9 months ago. She was happy, eating and able to roll etc but very lame both in walk and trot.

However, Fayre (at 29 years of age) has other ideas. She has finally come sound in the last month and yesterday I took a deep breathe and my friend sat on her - fully expecting to have to jump off promptly. But she not only was fine but managed a little walk round the block with Jazz (a great relief as I prefer to have a lead file when out with Jazz).

She has jogged out of the stable this morning none the worse for wear so HOORAH! She may be able to help me get my 2 year old Diva out on the roads as well.

It is so lovely seeing her float around again. I havent sat on a horse for 9 weeks because I have been going through marital trauma and couldnt face battling with Jazz so it means so much to me to have my Fairycake back under saddle. Very cathartic!

What a fabulous recovery, you must have put in a lot of care and hard work. The oldies enjoy a purpose and being part of things; so helping your youngster is great. My old girl played a part in starting Ari and it some how seemed very right that she passed on what she had learned about scary things many years ago.

Thanks guys. I am not looking at doing anything with my old lady at all other than walk round the lanes once a week to give the younger ones a lead. She loves to go out so it was great to get the chance again. We are very hilly where we are so was quite a good test of whether she is fully recovered but she didnt hesitate so looking very hopeful that we will squeeze a few more years in . She jogged out of the stable again this morning so is clearly feeling very proud of herself.

How wonderful that is great news one of my sons racehorses called August Rose broke her pelvis and was in some sort of sling for ages in the stable but he had her out racing again the following year, although I must admit I thought that was awful personally, but thats me, but I am soooo glad your girl is able to enjoy herself again....Great News

Fantastic news, and it is such good therapy to be able to enjoy a ride when other things in life get tough - here's to her continued good health!
