Posted - 10 Nov 2011 : 12:55:00 PM Checked Rusleema out at the Vet Equine centre today . She looked great. Took her for a walk and on the way back to her yard we went up to a stallion in his yard and she laid her ears back and wanted to kick him. Hopefully this is significant as she is due for her 14 day scan tomorrow. So I'm hopeful that she is pregnant to WH Justice.
.
Here are a couple of picts of her taken a year or so ago.

Posted - 12 Nov 2011 : 04:34:39 AM Physiologically the mare is great, and the semen is good. Expense-wise it's like p e e ing into a black hole and I know I'll never re-coupe my outlay. Geographically we are nowhere. Apart from the agents Mystica Arabians I am the only person in this state using WH Justice. I saw the filly True Desire at the centre last week ,and the manager of M Arabians told me they had two frozen AI embryos from her by one of their stallions for transfer so I'm still hopeful. Rusleema's vet suggested I try chilled semen from another horse that I may know of, but I would prefer to keep her empty than do this. |

Posted - 10 Nov 2011 : 1:45:50 PM Most vets like to inseminate as close as possible to ovulation with frozen semen. I do hope she has held for you. Its a shame about the show but there are other shows!! |

Posted - 10 Nov 2011 : 1:24:46 PM Thanks. I've had some frustrating times with her over the last 4 yrs. I would have liked to have left her empty but as I had paid the stud fee last year I had to use it. Her reproductive vet is a young Irish girl and she likes to inseminate with frozen semen within an hour of ovulation. Rusleema missed the state arabian horse championships last weekend because I put the AI as a priority. I went along and checked out her class and came away confident she would have done well: but you have to be in it to win it. We have another opportunity next March at the All Arabian show. |
