Hit me yesterday, after my first post here back in the spring was with me vaguely thinking of getting an arab instead of my usual tb, that im now completely converted and would never have another horse that wasnt an arab 
I think the bit I like most is how brave and level headed she is, I expected a bit of a dip
Random but I thought appropiate to post, I dont think iv ever been so smitten with a breed |

I owned one once before and he broke my heart when I had to admit that we just weren't right for each other. I vowed never to have another Arab again........too flighty too spooky too good looking too clever and just waaay too good for me. A year later and after much going round the houses I ended up with, yes you've guessed it! ANOTHER Arab who was sold to me because she was too "quiet" for her last owner. She is just about as perfect a match for me as you could get. I've worked out that if she lives as long as my first horse (TB/Conny) then I will be 71 when she dies. LOL |

I alays wanted an arab as a child but never thought I'd be up to the job of owning one - after years in the wilderness with thoroughbreds and Irish draughts (don't get me wrong, they've all been fantastic! ) I got my first arab at the beginning of last year - and I'm hooked! I now have 3............. |

Of course they are ALL far to superior to be owned by us , but they are so good hearted they dont like to offend I have been so in awe of them this past 55 years and still am!
The funny thing is most people just dont get it it completely passes over their heads
This royal prince of the desert, who is so pure in blood as to trace his ancestors back to the beginning of civilisation and beyond, yet is happy to share his life with us, why? because he was beloved by the bedouins and in return gave his love to them and now to us, but be careful not to betray his trust , he is sensitive and will not forget bad treatment easily.
Have you ever stood and watched when they lift their heads and look off into the distance as though they are listening for something? its the call of the wild desert sands of time, a place you cannot go in his heart.
just be in awe and be very honored to have them in our lives  ( I use the term he but it for her as well ) |

Bought my first arab weanling end of February after many years of wishing I had one. Didn't have the courage as I thought they were far superior to be owned by me lol. Took the plunge and bought 97.5% Crabbet, Crystal Flash by Irexanda/Crystal Romance. Everyday Iam enthralled by his gracefulness, elegance and sweet, kind nature. I also love his intelligence and quick thinking......Mags just like you guess I have Arabitus too!! |

My wonderful Arab was VERY level headed and SO laid back she was known as "the Donkey". I adored her and only parted with her owing to overwhelming force of circumstances. She went on to do endurance and has a great owner and a lovely life......
...and then I went the other way when my life changed for the better again..... and now I have a TB!
LOL!!
Thing is...when I first posted her picture to friends, they ALL ( bar one who HAS a TB of similar breeding ) said, " oh what a gorgeous new ARAB! "
Indeed, she is only 15 hands, has big cheeks, big eyes, a dished face, perky ears and trots that big pronking trot with her suspiciously fine tail flagged VERTICAL over her back!! She is nosey and affectionate and very brainy.....sounding familiar, huh??
A throw back to her Godolphin and Darley ancestors and one or two others less known thrown in later down the line??

Arabs are so beautiful and amazing in so many ways.They are versatile and brave, affectionate and charming and I never thought I would have another breed....but hey, the TB owes everything good about it to the input of the Arabian....and some of them, like my little girl, clearly just want to be one anyway!!
Maybe that's why I have her and not another one of the bigger, rangier TB ex racers that I thought I would like to rehome.
So glad you and your girl are so happy !! Wishing you MANY wonderful years with this FABULOUS breed!! |

I contracted Arabitus over 20 years ago when I met my old mare Honey. Much misunderstood & poorly treated, she weedled her way into my heart & never left. They teach you so much & many of my horsey friends ask where I get my patience & compassion from...that would be from my little mare. When I lost her last year, I couldn't even consider another breed. And along came Sunny my fabulous Ginger Ninja
They are the most loyal & trusting of breeds with the heart of a lion. Wear your "I  my Arab" badge with pride Mags!! |

I also have arabitis, and echoing others comments although I love all horses I wouldn't want one for myself now that wasn't arab or part bred,at least. They are different to other horses, never had one so quick to learn or so bonded to me,amazingly beautiful too! |

I too had it passed on to me by my parents, their love for the Arabian horse didn't influence me at all Zara my mothers pure bred mare did that all by herself, and then there were the partbreds....but Zara was my first love |

Well it wasn't my fault that my parents dragged me out to Bahrain when I was only 5 years old and I am afraid that I must have contracted it then. The rest of the family seem to be immune to anything horsey at all but there seems to be no cure to my arabitis.
With treatment and support I have been able to limit myself to just one at a time. My bank balance and nearest and dearest are relieved I seem to have the condition under relative control. |

I caught Arabitis by chance,looking for a small sized,level headed horse to do mostly hacking with,it happened to be an arab,it was love at first sight!Now,I like all horses,and I can't rule out the possibility of coming across a horse from another breed,but if I had to look for another one,it would be arab or part bred.Their sheer beauty and grace has a lot to do with it,but what I love the most is their intelligence and the relationship you can have with them.I've never experienced such a close bonding before.
So,Mags,it's nice to hear of another convert! |

Having 3 purebreds already - 2 geldings and a 30 year old mare (plus a TBX who I still love even though he's the wrong breed) it has always been my dream to breed an Arab to call my own. As my own mare is far too old, I recently bought myself an Arab broodmare. Now my friends have heard my news, they're all keen to recommend stallions that they like (TB's, warmbloods, Anglos, even a Spanish Mustang) however I've had to tell tham all "thanks but no thanks", because if my foal isn't a purebred Arab then my dream won't be fulfilled!
I love all horses, but I can't look and think of any other breed in quite the same way as I do a purebred Arabian!

Mags I am glad for you, if an Arab horse loves and respects you, you will never have a better friend or more heartlifting, athletic, generous horse to ride. Their generosity, loyalty, endurance and grace is almost a miracle, but one that has it's roots in the extreme demands of desert travel and warfare. It is the long selection by Bedouin over thousands of years that has given us this peerless horse. I hope we will be worthy of this inheritance and continue to breed for the true virtues of character and constitution that make this horse unique. I wish you and your mare many happy years together. |

I love Arabs they are my favourite, but I also love my Sisters Warmblood Gracie she is so lovely and a brilliant horse to ride. |

Now I am no doctor but I can tell you ,You have contracted Aribitis! its a rare condition . it strikes rich and poor alike, even royalty, it strikes you right in the heart and sometimes makes your eyes leak, but you will experience symptoms of euphoria bordering on madness and wait for it... there is no cure , you are stuck with it for life , ENJOY ! |

Nothing can beat the nature of the arab imo. Ive only had part breds but their sweet natures are just amazing. Ive also got a tb and as much as I love her, I swear I will never buy another one. I didnt really mean to get another part bred arab but I got my youngster a couple of years ago and Im now certain that arabs are def the breed for me. Think any horse I have now in the future, it will have to arab to some degree.
A friend of mine has bought a 3yo arab x tb and not getting along at all. I can see her selling her next year tbh. Quite sad as I think shes sweet but very sensitive and extremely sharp, something this girl isnt quite used to. So will be interesting to see how it goes over next few months. |

LOL, I know how you feel, I bought our first arab a couple of months ago for my daughter and love him to bits, I dont actualy have a horse of my own, they are all my daughters, even thought the welsh cob is meant to be mine, I now want an arab for myself, and am thinking seriously about a foal for myself, next year. |
