It seems that many of us have horses that like to be amused/amuse themselves. What toys or ideas do people have for this purpose?
There is the hanging Likit's of course and the hexagon shaped thingy that I don't know the name of?? These toys don't have to be only for indoors, ideas for outdoor toys too?

Bebely, did you see my other post of Likits renamed Biteits? I put a vid clip on of Kes devouring a likit during the week. |

I would be delighted.. loving the idea of the welly I have an old pair.. i can stuff bits of carrots into them! |

mine like Likits too but so do the wasps..... i found them in the hundreds on the likit ball... dont use it now.
i hang welly boots, dandy brushes, space hoppers etc. swedes, branches of non flowering gorce.
and in the summer i fill a bucket with water apples carrots etc and freeze it. they love to lick at it.
also if your horse is a mud eater, buckets of solid mud. makes a cheep stable lick. |

Judith S - see my other post re Likits, there appears to be quite a few of us with Arabs that 'eat' likits in minutes!!
SuziQ - many good ideas, brilliant, thanks  How about some pics when you have done your stable decorating this coming fireworks night? |

My horses love tree branches hung up in their stables, around firework night I make a habbit of decorating the stable as their is a large local display and it has always kept them calm and occupied, hawthorn and branches from other native trees are good, generally not from trees with a fruit that has a stone! eg cherry!
Cheap sturdy treat toys can be made from cortaflex pots, tupperware from second hand shops with holes cut into them, you can either tape or melt the edges smooth. My younster loves killing those big Pilates balls She also enjoys upturning traffic cones looking for the apple..god help us when she is actually ridden! |

Good ideas, keep 'em coming
I have the hanging Likit, have stabbed and hung various vegetables, we cut down thistles and stingers and give them to the horses, he loves his plastic and rubber balls (although makes mucking out take longer), various salt licks - some on holders, some hanging. |

A few years ago when my gelding was on box rest with a fracture I was desperate to keep him happy I tried hanging swedes and lickits, and bunches of dried nettles,filled a hexagon with carrot pieces and I even tied a large apple tree branch (with apples) up to the back of the stable. My YO's comment was that his stable looked like The Eden Project! |

Swedes!! I hung one in Sunnys stable last night..not too sure if it will still be there! It seems to keep him entertained, and healthy too (Daren't think what he'd do with a Lickit!!  ) |
