Posted - 09 Sep 2011 : 10:43:10 PM Have been away for days so I am afraid I commented on the other post first and said we had renamed Likits to Biteits! Tamba hasn't been allowed one for years.
His other favourite trick was to finish the Biteit and then keep on smashing the holder against the front of the stable to keep all the other horses (and humans) entertained all night.
I also had to remove his wall mounted salt lick. Apparantly it makes a good tail scratcher. There is nothing worse than trying to get rubbed in damp salt out of a horse's tail! |

Posted - 08 Sep 2011 : 08:41:12 AM Fin munches them in minutes too, he also eats rock salt licks in a day so he now has a brush hung up which he plays with or a swede, little munchkin |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 10:08:04 PM Yes I did mean the hexagon shaped thing Kes.
Two minutes is shocking Rosie - little horror |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 3:48:19 PM Our youngest isn't allowed one now - his shortest time was 2 minutes!!!!
Then I put him in the stallions paddock & forgot I'd left a lickit in there and he ate that one as well!!!! |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 3:36:18 PM Hehe Garnet, mine's not the only one then!! Linda - are you talking about one of those hexagon shaped things? They look good, may get one of those as well. The trouble it, he's go so many licks, toys, you name it, it takes me ages to muck out as I have to move the toys around. This includes all his plastic balls which I know he loves, I haven't got a horse, I've got a 4yo child..... |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 3:00:58 PM My friend's Section A could finish one in 30 mins and that was suspended on a long string in the middle of the stable so it couldn't be pinned against the wall to speed up the attack. |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 2:22:03 PM If you want to give him something to play with, a friend of mine had one of those shaped things that dribbles out pony nuts/horse treats as they push it around which kept her horse entertained for hours when he was on box rest, probably healthier too (depending on what you put in it ) |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 2:11:43 PM That's my worry Linda, that's why he only gets them when I am watching him now. He's got a Himalayan salt lick and a paddock lick to play with also but with the Likit, he will just attack it as you can see, naughty little man. |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 2:03:48 PM I tried that too, and Buzz just pulled it down and attacked it on the floor, which is when I gave up on them. He gets a rock salt lick instead now. |
Kes |
Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 1:51:56 PM That's right but he gets annoyed and attacks the rope, then I get worried that he'll pull it down in the night or when I am not there. I am after the other Likit which has the ball on it, that one I will suspend as I hope he won't be so tempted to pull it down! |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 1:24:31 PM You have to have them suspended where they cannot do anything but lick . |
Kes |
Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 12:18:36 PM It can be worrying if they scoff them down, so he doesn't get them often. I started using them initially as a distraction for when he was tied up on a busy yard when I first got him. Now he gets one every few weeks or so. He does have a 12kg field lick in his stable as well but he seems to use that at a reasonable rate, as I know he's a horse that likes to be busy I hate to think of him being bored so am always giving him toys, he loves his rubber balls as well - could be my next odd video clip!!

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 12:09:03 PM My little weanling filly managed to eat a whole cherry likkit too. I was VERY worried though as she obviously felt ill when she had done it. OK after a few hours turnout but I was thinking it could be a very expensive Likkit if I needed the vet |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 10:13:46 AM none of the adult ones I have now will touch lickit... however my old TB Little Hunter used to do just like your horse, they were always gone within 30 minutes.... didnt give him too many as they are full of sugar.... I never use the molassed fieldlicks as they too are very easily overdosed.... the horse will not take the vitamins and minerals he needs he will keep going because of the taste. |

Posted - 07 Sep 2011 : 09:35:18 AM Good video KesPasch Arabi wont eat them either, infact the only sweets he likes are polos and cough candy, will only eat pears and swede in his feed not from your hand, strange horse. |

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 11:13:29 PM The little monkey! Mine must be the only horse to ignore Likits,I tried a couple of tastes but he doesn't like them.Strange for a horse who thinks everything is edible! |

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 10:06:29 PM I brought a Field Garlic Likit for Freddie, after buying the smaller sizes we got a bigger one thinking it would last six months ... no, more room for teeth to bite it! It will last as long as the smaller ones! |

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 10:02:01 PM You have no idea!!! He is a master of up-to-no-good. The funny thing is what you can't see from that clip, the other side of him is filthy and he has a huge knot in his mane which you can just see the bottom of when his tips his head sideways (nice little job for me in the morning). |

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 9:55:43 PM Haha, brilliant. Looks too tasty to lick, or at least thats the impression I am getting from the look on that cheeky face. Butter wouldn't melt, right?

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 9:24:49 PM The quickest he has eaten one is 17 minutes so far!! That one was carrot flavour, he loves cherry best. I try and keep him off the mint because he puts his blue lips everywhere afterwards and it makes such a mess, especially on my friends Friesian who obviously black doesn't want dried up 'blue' on him, we laugh though Thanks Sab2 |

Posted - 06 Sep 2011 : 9:24:04 PM I gave up with them - Buzz eats the whole thing overnight Great vid tho' |
