I signed a petition under the old Labour No10 petition scheme and the response that came back was to the effect that as no farms of this nature exist in the UK, there was no need for action!

I've pasted it to my FB and asked for it to be passed on but I don't have many friends  . Can everyone who reads this and is on FB put it on their status?
Please pass this on. Women who want or are prescribed this HRT drug should make sure it's the synthetic version and not via this suffering

I agree this has been going on for years but if we can just spread the word by signing and then passing on to our friends , then like you say if it reaches just one person it can be worth it. |

Well said Fee! We must raise awareness every way possible. This has been going on for years and years. I have even sneaked leaflets about it into my Doctor's surgery. (Don't suppose they stayed on show for long, but if even one woman was informed it was worth it!) |

I went on a little look at the company running the petition. Sorry but nobody does nothing for nothing and I just like to check it out before handing out my email
Anyway that search led me to an American company manufacturing and selling this drug which has a glossy 'everything is easy and wonderful' website. I specifically went on a search through their site to see if they were using synthetic premarin or via this barbaric way. It took me quite sometime considering I knew what I was looking for. I was led through the many repetitive pages which kept telling me how wonderful the drug was. I EVENTUALLY got to what they use and it only stated 'from natural source' Those words are I believe selected to actually reinforce how 'nice' this drug is! Everyone likes 'natural' after all. They shouldn't be allowed to hide so easily behind what they are using and the suffering and death of mares and foals to get it. 
PS Sorry but I just have my doubts about these petitions on a number of levels. Who is getting this petition and do they ever have an effect? What are they doing with all the emails which you must give? I also worry that when people sign they then feel 'that's me done my bit' and forget about it. That said there's no doubt that petitions raise awareness which is better than nothing and is greatly needed here and in USA. I've seen a few flagging it up on their Facebook today, that's surely another very good way to let woman know if they are unknowingly supporting this awful and barbaric practice.

I used the synthetic version for years , its just as good.
the one thing I learned about being on HRT was as soon as you come off you nosedive straight back into menopause I had been on it for 15 years so reckoned I should come off , when they first started giving it they didn't know about the long term effects |

& Make sure all the women taking this product for PMT ask their GP's for the synthetic version else they will be supporting this industry.

I signed this years and years ago in the late 90's when I worked for a doctor. There was an article in one of the horse mags and she dictated a letter and I sent it off. Can't believe it's still happening. |
