Posted - 06 Aug 2011 : 2:15:02 PM Poor Rosie has been colicky for the last 24 hrs. Not like her at all - kicking her stomach loads last night and at 9.30 pm I was at the point of calling the vet then she settled down.
Checked early this morning and seems ok just noticed one kick at the stomach. Just checked again and seems ok at the moment so will just have to monitor her. Pooing and grazing ok. Hope the old girl is alright

Posted - 08 Aug 2011 : 09:20:48 AM Glad she is feeling better! Colic is really scary. When tilly had it she was a bit quiet in the morning then practically collapsed in the field- ~~I thought she had died! When the vet came she described it as a mild case- I wouldnt like to see a more serious one! After that we started Tilly on pink powder- maybe something to thik about? xx |

Posted - 06 Aug 2011 : 3:33:31 PM Try giving her a good quality pre/probiotic. I had a foal several years ago who used to colic and after giving it to her she has never had another colic since.

Posted - 06 Aug 2011 : 2:53:14 PM Has she got bad gas? i.e. is her tummy bloated out hard? Harley our 20 year old gets this sometimes, he rolls around groaning and sweating (he has a very low pain threshold), and we have to rub his tummy until he does several enormous farts and then he is fine. If you put your ear to her side can you hear normal digestion noises? Really hope that she is back to normal asap. |
