Posted - 31 Jul 2011 : 3:15:58 PM As the trusty 25 year old RR is slowly disintegrating into a heap of rust, I am now looking to replace. Has anyone any experience of towing with a Freelander?

Posted - 06 Aug 2011 : 6:41:42 PM I wouldnt touch another Freelander although I loved driving them. I've had three and two of them required new engines (one within warranty and one at 5 years of age). I didnt do much towing - maybe 6 times a year. |

Posted - 01 Aug 2011 : 10:11:35 AM I know someone who tows a one-horse Ifor with a 13.2hh pony in it and she won't go up any hills for fear of not making it
We tow with a trusty old Discovery (N Reg) and it happily pulls my Ifor 510 with 2 big horses (16hh & 16.3hh) up one of the steepest and highest hills on the North Downs... seriously I think it could pull a tank AND we were one of the only vehicles on the road when we had all that snow... couldn't live without it! |

Posted - 01 Aug 2011 : 08:25:04 AM We have Kia Sorento 2007 model. Fantastic tow vehicle. Tows about 3 tons. We towed caravan and Ifor 505 all over, just climbs hills as if they're not there. Watch the newer ones though Kia reduced the size/tow weight to reduce emisions and road tax. Our road tax is over £400 same as RR |

Posted - 01 Aug 2011 : 06:38:07 AM im pretty sure the towing capacity of a freelander is only 1.5 tons
dont know about the brand new ones if theyre any better.. prob betteroff going for a discovery unless you have a light trailer and just tow one.
i think they PHYSICALLY do it but perhaps not legally...
i do know a few people who tow with them= vitara's, but again, only 1 horse and a lightweight triler.

Posted - 31 Jul 2011 : 10:02:07 PM Freelander towing capacity is much lower than a RR - more of a 'soft-roader' |

Posted - 31 Jul 2011 : 9:16:05 PM I know somebody who tows with a Freelander, but again, be aware that the trailer must'nt exceed the weight of the towing vehicle. Check the trailer weight. |

Posted - 31 Jul 2011 : 7:14:27 PM Sorry, no tow with a jeep. However, do have a friend that tows with a Freelander and its brilliant. I wouldn't say no to one as due to change our 4wd next year. |
