This is all just thoughts at the moment,

I am thinking of getting a sharer, someone who might just be happy with the daily care or someone who would like to ride too?
My main reason is i am struggling to get all my home chores doneand this is really getting me down, the house is on the market but is a tip, i think just having help once or maybe twice a week would help me and my OH would appreciate seeing some of me too?

So come on guys give it too me.

It is early days but I have a lovely sharer! I ummed and ahhed about it a lot last year, as I too felt guilty for lack of house work and no time for OH, but then I developed an umbilical hernia (my 2nd in 6 months!) so decided I needed to get one so I could rest pre-op, and properly this time! recover post-op. I tried a young girl in my village, but let's say she wasn't "suited" to riding arabs. I was a bit crestfallen after this, and stopped actively looking but then out of the blue a young lady contacted me following an advert I had forgotten I had put on here! asking if I was still looking. I was a bit cautious cos of what happened with the other girl, but it has turned out brilliantly. She is a fabulous girl who is very attuned to Khatreena and knows more about schooling than me so is educating her at the same time. I am more than happy to continue sharing with her once I am recovered, and she is even now going to loan Khatreena over the summer as I tried keeping her out 24/7 to reduce the workload while I recovered, but she is huge, and I feared the start of laminitis earlier this week, and realise that she really needs some stable management during the summer to keep the weight off.

I would say look with caution but there are definitely good, reliable sharers out there. And advertise for one on here!

I haven't posted for ages and then I write the longest post ever - Sorry folks!

I had a lovely sharer for Shida who had her every Thursday and looked after her better than me! She also looked after her when I was on holiday or if I couldn't get up there for some reason. One of the girls at my yard has a fab sharer as her young palomino is really tricky and frankly I wouldn't bother with something that difficult if it wasn't mine but she's really perserverd and gets on great with him. So they are out there. Funnily enough was thinking I might see if anyone wanted to share Beau although my friend likes riding him so maybe not just yet. I wouldnt' trust anyone with my Princess though

Good sharers are hard to find but they are out there, just decide exactly what you want from them first, someone to ride and look after your horse a couple of days a week or perhaps a younger person who wants to be with horses just for the love of it,
good luck

I have tried to find a sharer for ages for my mare who has just gone out on loan. I had all sorts of people coming claiming to be experienced riders and then some couldn't even tack up or put headcollar on! At first I asked for contribution to keep but after a while just looked for someone to exercise her for me, I had a couple of people who came a few times and proved unreliable. Maybe I was just unlucky, my horse was a bit of a handful so I had to be quite careful who I would have, but my experience has been that people are unreliable when its not their horse, sometimes just not turning up and not even letting me know, and also will claim to be a great rider if they think they are getting a horse to ride. Good luck, on the plus side a lady at my yard has a sharer who comes without fail every friday and has done for years, she does all the poo picking etc and helps when owner away etc, hopefully you will be able to find someone like that.

I have a sharer for a pony that i have until he is sold
and its working really well.It also does help with the
time as like you don't always have enough hours in the day.

Good luck with whatever decision you make
