Posted - 19 Jun 2011 : 3:25:27 PM I know you're all great with tips, so I thought I'd seek some help from you guys! Our palomino's tail is impossible to get clean. We never had this problem with greys, but her tail is always stained. Her mane is a lovely cream/white clolur, but her tail is stained yellow/brown. After we wash it, its a bit better but nothing like her mane. Heres a pic, as you can see er tail is not as clean as it could/should be
So, any tips? |

Posted - 21 Jun 2011 : 5:38:27 PM The Tesco value shampoo came highly recommended on a previous thread, so tried it on Salads tail which has always been yellow tinted at the bottom, unfortunately it made it yellower! |

Posted - 20 Jun 2011 : 6:03:50 PM I know someone who used head and shoulders on hers, but I have been assured that there is some chemical in it that you must not get near animals. Budget Tesco shampoo (not anti-dandruff) is highly recommended though. |

Posted - 20 Jun 2011 : 3:28:20 PM wash with blue shampoo and rinse then when almost dry rub some chalk power into the end of the tail and leave overnight, brush out in morning, works really well on my two greys with yellow tails!!

Posted - 20 Jun 2011 : 1:58:42 PM Misshana we used to use the dolly blue bags too wonderful stuff not seen them in years, I find antibacterial fairy liquid works if left on for a few minutes, any blue or purple shampoo should help with making hair white as it counteracts the yellow brassiness effect,I use purple shampoo on my own hair to stop the highlights from looking yellow, superdrug do a wash in ash blonde its dark purple and you leave it on for 15 mins only 99p, I don't see why it wouldn't work on the tail I just wouldn't put it on the skin just in case you have a reaction. |

Posted - 20 Jun 2011 : 1:41:20 PM WAHL do a diamond white shampoo (the shampoo is actually purple) and you dilute it in water before washing the horse, as its a whiting shampoo - does wonders on our cremello's tail! |

Posted - 19 Jun 2011 : 6:05:20 PM We used to use old fashioned blue bags to whiten tails. Dont know if can still get them. Cowboy magic do a shampoo which says removes yellow stains and that has worked on yellow stable stains on our grey pony. His tail and body were really white after using. |
