Posted - 19 Apr 2011 : 5:28:14 PM Just read on the Biddesden website that Tam is to be officially retired in the main arena at Badminton after the showjumping phase.
A fitting honour for a truely great athlete and ambassador for our breed.
Oh dear, I feel the need for a box of tissues on stand by!!

His breeder Mary Guinness said:
Tamarillo's part-bred Arab pedigree is apparent in his light and extravagant movement in dressage and his speed and nimbleness in cross country and show jumping," ... "He has been both an ambassador for British breeding as well as for Arab blood lines.
Unfortunately I can't be there this year - sometimes I really hate work! |

Posted - 19 Apr 2011 : 11:00:36 PM Will he be doing the competition or just being 'retired in public'? I would love to go. What a fabulous horse. A long and very contended retirement to him!! |

Posted - 19 Apr 2011 : 7:09:49 PM Did you see the wonderful photos of him on the web site - he's all hairy and in a rug and he looks pretty darned happy as a retirement horse. If you go on YOuTube and look for horses behaving badly in trot up, there's some wonderful footage of Tam being Tam - full of life and putting in the odd buck during the trot up at Badminton. It's lovely footage and it made me smile.
Super horse with super sized ego - happy retirement Tam xx |
