How are your horses all reacting to the spring grass..?

Mine are absolutely MAD at the moment .

My Welsh x Arab mare was fully clipped last weekend so that she could wear her sweet-itch rug. She seams more manic since she has had her hair cut

OH said i was mean shaving all her fur off but she is rugged with an extra layer to the others. Maybe she is a bit cold...? She kept rolling yesterday then getting up and galloping around, then calling even though all the other horses are there. Then she would repeat the whole process all over again. She did this for a good hour. I checked for signs of colic but she looked OK and had been pooing. She wasn't tucked up and didn't have a temp. She just seams really stressed about something...?

Ozzy didn't even want his feed yesterday as he was too busy around the field. (it was very windy yesterday). Not sure if he was doing it because my mare was or if he was just having fun..!

Should be a mad ride tonight...!

How are your lot behaving..?

Definitely! Lily was leaping sideways every three paces last week - got rather tiring, but if it means the grass is finally growing then hurrah!

Oh and the whole herd has been very lively in the field as well

I didn't think ours was through much but after a nice long lively hack I put Laddie out yesterday and watched him make a circuit of the two fields 4 times flat out! (I think they are about 12 - 14 acres in all)so yes I think it has arrived!

No spring grass coming through at ours yet, we're still in the winter paddocks. The farm has just been limed so need plenty of rain to soak it in now before they decide when we move to the naughty spring grass fields

I rode Arabi out for the first time in about 3 months last weekend, his had a virus, we were with 5 other horses and he was as good as gold, went out yesterday with 2 others and he jogged the whole way cantering on the spot and was very much on his toes so I would say yes the spring grass is definitely here.

In one word CRACKERS, ha. Especially the gelding, he keeps dragging me to it, which is unlike him, then he has a paddy, when i bring him away, typical two year old ha.

I suppose its like someone shoving fish and chips in front of me when im dieting, and me having to resistThey just love that spring grass
