Posted - 28 Mar 2011 : 11:47:41 AM Does anyone have any experience of dressage saddles for a typical arab shape? (wide and short) lol
Would also need to be either a 16 inch or 16.5 inch which is what I am struggling to find
Would like a leather but open to synthetic and have a budget of around £700
Anyone offer any advice or help

Posted - 29 Mar 2011 : 2:15:17 PM Isabel Werth dressage on an extra-wide template (the white one) should do the trick, and not too expensive either Tanni is very wide and this saddle suits us both, we hack out in it as well. Good luck! |

Posted - 29 Mar 2011 : 12:25:11 PM My Wintec Isabel dressage synthetic saddle fits Laddie well...and it is comfy. It is wide fit 16 1/2". he is 14.3"hh. My saddler recommended it as I was short on cash and he fitted it. They retail around £700. |

Call Ideal and find out what tree your GP is on and then buy the corresponding Dressage Saddle on the same tree and same size... and hey presto... if you are very unlucky and they don't do a DR saddle on that tree, they will be able to tell you which one will fit!
Ideals are very resonably priced, super comfy and always come up second hand too! |

Posted - 29 Mar 2011 : 11:24:52 AM The cost of a new Arabian saddle Company saddle is around the £1200 mark! I've got a Sylvan GP model and as Kim says, they are so comfortable too. Again I bought mine second hand and paid £285 for it. It was only 3 years old with little use, but the seller was desperately short of money at the time. |

Posted - 29 Mar 2011 : 09:36:36 AM I love the Ideal saddles I have an Ideal Ramsay which I use everyday and for showing, but I did use a Fieldhouse dressage saddle on Arabi just after I backed him and it was really comfy, someone lent it too me for a while, I tried to buy it off her but she didn't want to let it go. |

Posted - 28 Mar 2011 : 6:19:43 PM Hi Greyarab, I use an extra wide fit Kieffer on Kaz who is 15.2 & very short coupled, think they should do something suitable within your budget, as they do try & cater to suite all pockets. About 8 years ago had an "Arabian Saddle Company" saddle made to template (on a 16 1/2" tree) for a very short coupled 14.2 stallion I used to own. Now that was an AMAZINGLY comfortable saddle, don't know cost of them now, but it might be worth looking into? |

Posted - 28 Mar 2011 : 11:51:33 AM We have an Ideal for Toman and it fits beautifully. I know new they are expensive but you might be able to pick up a second hand one at a reasonable price. Don't know which area you are but here in Midlands I can recommend a lady who is very good. |
