So sorry for the delay in posting this. have had a hectic week with work etc.
Zar arrived home on Monday evening about 6pm. Travelled quietly as usual. Didn't hear a peep out of him.
He came off the lorry, and straight into his stable. Said hello to the new horse in his block, and settled straight in to munching his haynet. He already looked a lot brighter.

The next day, we put put his field pen. He's only allowed a 10m x 10m space, and has to be sedated before going out for the next 8 weeks, he had an hour or so out on tuesday, and wednesday, and today I have left him out for a few hours.
Whatever they have done to him at Rossdales must be working, as he is no longer dragging his bad leg, he lifts it up and puts it down nicely. He's not allowed to go any faster than a walk for the next 8 weeks, hence the small pen and sedation, and then they are going to reasses the lameness, see if it is improving. then a month after that he has to have the fracture rescanned to see how it is healing, and check the inflamation of the hip joint. I know its early days, but so far so good.
I just need to get some meat back on his bones now.

Some pics :)

Is it time to come in already????

Happily munching away.

Glad to hear things seem to be progressing well. We are spoilt for choice her with rossdales and The Equine hospital so close.

I wouldn't get too much weight on him as being on the lean side will put less strain on his joints and the break.

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics I took yesterday of the injured donkey.
He's slowly starting to improve. Still not allowed to trot, although he did jog all the way in from the field the other day, when the wind was blowing a hoolie up his back side. LOL.
He even managed to roll right over in the field yesterday, so he must be in the mend :)
His weight and muscle is slowly staring to creep back on again too, although his backside is still very lacking, but it is slightly better than it was when he was on box rest. So...........so far, so good.
Only another 5 weeks, and he can be re-assesed to see how he's doing, and fingers x'd a rehab plan to get him back into work.

Hi Bananahamock
Sorry only just seen this message, were you asking me? if so yes I have a daughter of Jack. Aliysa (Penny) is now 18yrs old, dark bay but only about 14.1h. She has a big attitude and lovely movement. Unfortunately I have no idea either where Jack ended up. A lady called Gail near Huddersfield owned him when I used him to cover my mare. Who bred your daughter? Aztec (Dean Ingham) who sometimes posts on here (he's in Australia right now) would probably know where he is.

So pleased you have your lovely boy back home. I hope he makes a full recovery.
I wouldn't worry at all about his weight. In fact after erecting and moving electric fencing again all morning, I swear i'm going to let my lot starve next winter so that I don't have to worry they're all too well and spring isn't even here yet
