Posted - 13 Mar 2011 : 12:48:26 PM Due to unforeseen circumstances poor Toman has not been out and about for around six months, so I thought you might like to see these few photos taken at a recent dressage competition where he worked in really well with all the other horses (even when on occasions he was cut up). He was the only Arab there and the only stallion and behaved impeccably - did we expect anything else.

Posted - 16 Mar 2011 : 10:57:48 PM You OBVIOUSLY both have a very, very good eye, and knowledge of breed lines. One of these days I am going to meet the handsome man. I am just gutted I have not seen him to date, but have followed his tremendous career to date, and will continue to do so. Keep flying the Toman flag, it is surely up there with the best of them. I will never tire of hearing about him. Paul |

Posted - 16 Mar 2011 : 10:24:58 PM We all had such a roller coaster few years - Toman has made lots of dreams come true and there are more to come I am sure. Jane and the crew at Al Waha have given us so much support over the years and yes life long friendships
I desperately tried for years to get Jane into the ring to share our achievements but she was "shy"!!!! Just ONE occasion we managed to get her to come and take credit for breeding this special horse. When he became BNC Supreme Ridden at the Nationals.

Posted - 16 Mar 2011 : 07:37:04 AM Jude, Great photos, so proud to have bred him but then I did sell him to the 'right' owner who has promoted him perfectly to all his success. Must add that I had seen Grand (Toman's sire) at Umm Qarn before the Raffle, I just never thought I would have a chance to breed to him as his stud fee was eye-poppingly high for that time. More important than anything, selling Toman to you, has given me a life-long friend - we didn't know each other before at all, we were just names to each other so thank you Toman ! Jane

Posted - 15 Mar 2011 : 8:51:18 PM Oh Ronnie I am so sorry I gave you a fright - no as you can see he is fighting fit and enjoying life to the full.
I was just reminiscing with a dear friend the other day how Toman came about. Many will remember but the new members of AL might be interested to know he came about by a nomination put forward for the AHS Stallion Raffle that used to be held at Malvern each year. Jane Kadri had purchased tickets and hers was the FOURTH (I think) to be drawn. Jane couldn't believe her luck when she saw that the Russian stallion GRAND (Mukomol x Nevesta) had not been taken. Jane had the foresight and knowledge to know how unique this horse was so she was more than grateful to get the ticket.
She decided on Queen's Topaz to be the chosen mare and lo and behold Toman arrived on the scene.
What a fantastic raffle ticket that turned out to be
Grand (Mukomol x Nevesta)

Queen's Topaz (Midnight Gold x Dancing Queen)

Here is a photo I found of Dancing Queen receiving her Princess Muna Saddle of Honour with her family - Toman is on the left looking very interested in the saddle
Hope you enjoy. |

Posted - 15 Mar 2011 : 7:23:01 PM Frightened me to death when I read- "Toman- for those who remember" I thought the worst! Enjoyed all his mature photos and the ancestral photos of his daughter's female line - very interesting, lovely mares. Well done Kate and good luck for the coming season. R |

Posted - 15 Mar 2011 : 1:28:03 PM Jude, What a smashing, quality colt no wonder you were smitten.
LOVELY to see that pic of Calexa I had never seen her before. Those mares from that line all have the same stamp. I had a very typey gelding out of Raquassa by Aboud - he was gorgeous and I have always remained interested in that female line.

Posted - 15 Mar 2011 : 11:54:05 AM Thought you might be interested to see when I first set eyes on this very special chestnut colt at Malvern in 2002 - being shown in hand by Mark Hardcastle and Dean Ingham for Al Waha Arabian Stud. Toman achieved 2nd in Futurity and 3rd in 3yr old colts and was part of the winning Princess Muna group of Dancing Queen.
You can see why I was smitten
Kirsty the special little girl is Budour http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/budour - I only have this foal photo of her at present but will be trying to get some more up to date.
