Posted - 12 Mar 2011 : 7:30:01 PM Hey everyone, My baby, Marquisse, has had a lump on his foot since he was young. It was very small but it has got bigger and bigger. The vet has seen it but wasn't sure, he thinks maybe it was an old injury, but it wasn't bothering Marcey then but now its bigger he doesn't like anyone touching it much...so before i ask the vet again i thought i would ask everyone here....i really don't want him to have a operation if i can avoid it =(.

Posted - 14 Mar 2011 : 10:31:16 PM I would get the vet out again too, it needn't mean he needs an operation, but if it is painful and getting bigger I'd get it looked at asap. |

Posted - 14 Mar 2011 : 7:16:16 PM Really? I hope it is just a abcess to be honest. was your gelding's abcess easily removed?x |

Posted - 14 Mar 2011 : 7:04:31 PM My guess would be abscess too. If its now painful then there is obv a build up of pressure, prob caused by the pus. The skin is prob too hard for it to break through and release that pressure. |

Posted - 14 Mar 2011 : 3:18:01 PM I think it is an abcess, our last arab gelding had a growth exactly like that on his muzzle, vet thought it was a sarcoid - but infact after surgery - discovered it was an abcess. good luck with it. |

Posted - 13 Mar 2011 : 12:19:16 PM Never seen anything quite like it before, looks to me.. that it might burst it self, especially if its squiggy inside and getting bigger, might just be looking for the fluid to escape. Is there any heat and does it have a top (peak) to it. Bathing or a poltice would soften the surface. Looks like there's no hair on the top of it a bit like a sarcoid. If it bursts..be carefull you dont let the inner fluid go any where else, in case it spreads it and keep the flys off it. they can possible transfer it to other parts and other horses.
I spose the vet thought it might be proad flesh growing after an injury.
Could it be a cyst. Only my thoughts.
Ask the vet.

Posted - 12 Mar 2011 : 11:06:53 PM is attached to the tendon? it could be a ganglion which he's knocked again and caused it to become inflammed. If it's squidgy then it could just need a local anaesthetic and then draining - that would be my best guess |

Posted - 12 Mar 2011 : 8:48:31 PM My first thought was sarcoid but the surface looks a bit uniform for a sarcoid. Though there are many types I know. Is it hard to touch? Could it be a bony growth? |
