Wish us luck we are going to our first Le Trec competition tomorrow - lucky for me & my map reading skills not a full Le Trec just the COP & PTV. But I know we have a challenge ahead. Have been practicing as much as possible - over tarpaulin, a pallet(a wooden bridge!) in & out of obstacles and he'd been doing really well until this week and suddenly he has decided, he has never in his life, seen any of them before and silly mum they are going to eat us - don't go near. Fingers crossed.

It was White Trec group & BHS at Askham Bryan at York - in fact same people who organized it, on Countryfile talking about it!

Oh, I missed it, where was it?

I love Trec, have been to Middleton, Moorside + Swanland with White Horse Trec Group.

Sounds like you had lots of fun!

well done sounds like great fun I would love to do something like le trec and think xsara would love it too

Oh well done. That's fantastic. I had always planned to do Trec with Jameel when he retired from long distance but it was not to be.

Clever Rushka. Can't blame him at all for being worried about the scary monsters until he made his friend go first. Sounds very sensible to me.

You're going to have to practice your map reading and have a go at the full thing.

Well done Nicky F for ever getting back on board!

I had a go at this last year, just an introduction to Trec by our local bridleways group. COP no problem, orienteering phase brilliant, led all the way round (we were in groups of 4), obstacle course - first one was the tarpaulin, he decided NO WAY was he going to put a foot on that, so jumped right across, landed on top of me, I spent the next week in the Royal Surrey, I lost so much blood through internal bleeding that I had to have a blood transfusion ... still got the bruises/haematoma on my tummy... And guess what, we still came 2nd as a team !!!

Nowadays we just stick to the hacking out ... but well done you, terrific result

Well done for giving it a go. Was just watching Le Trec on
country file. Didnt really know much about it but it looked
good fun. Wish my old boy was younger i am sure he would of
been great at it. Not sure about finding my way around anything
though as i am rubbish

Thank you for the good luck wishes - we needed them. Had the individual class first, poor Rushka stood and watched his friend go round - his eyes on stalks and nostrils as big as dinner plates his heart was beating so bad I could feel it pulsing through my body!! Then our turn COP canter first , turn round and walk back, bless him we only just got into walk - he couldn't cope with the colored discs and cones showing the track, only thing we did ok was stay within the track - don't think he dare step over. As for the PTV what can I say we let arabs down across the globe! His poor head was mashed. We were 2nd to last out of 26

3 hours later and lot calmer Rushka we went in for the pairs. Emily & Prince (young & very calm Connamara) first, Rushka watching every step. They did the canter and 5 obstacles - brilliantly - Prince stepped out on the reverse and Emily kicked a pole on the lead through - the rest perfect. No pressure Rushka turned super star - 3 perfect 10's - a 5 for a jump we first refused and then knocked down, and the the mount I took too long, rushed and caught reins But we came 5th overall - soo proud of my boy - both boys, sorry Prince he was truly great too! Now looking for more really have got the bug.

Good luck. Trec is a lot of fun. Sadly it's not such a big thing in Scotland any more, but when it was, we did really well. I competed as a pair with a friend and we were Scottish Champions 8 times and British Champions 3 times! The arabs are fab at Trec. They seem to have just the right sort of brain for it.

Good luck! We did a couple Trec competitions but the obstacles were all a bit scary. I really enjoyed it though and I think it was really good for Spider.
Pasha Posted - 11 Mar 2011 : 09:19:43 AM
Ooh good luck! I did it once on Pasha and he took to it like a pro, all except the mounting from the wrong side - put one foot in the stirrup and he was off Monkey!!!

Good luck for tomorrow.
We are organising our own Le Trec comp at my yard this year. It's one of our yard get together ideas. It looks fun, just hope my mare things the same. COP should be interesting in the walk part. Our walk is usually of the power variety!
