Posted - 09 Mar 2011 : 7:32:50 PM I am posting this because I know all AL members would want to offer their support. Therefore I am copying this post direct from another forum in the hope you too will sign the petition and help gain public recognition for this situation. I do not know the full facts of the matter and this is not about taking sides but making a difference for these horses as requested.

H E L P S A V E T H E M: 30 BLUE LIST ARABIANS IN DANGER !!! Sign the petition TODAY
"Currently in France, in the South West, a so called breeder of Arabian horses abused and starved thirty horses. Many died; others are on the same path. These poor horses are all blue list, AK, SE, SO, Babson.... A whole century of genetic heritage and preservation are in great danger.
And the French government is ignoring this scandal. They try to cover it since their local vet services are ignoring the problem.
Consequently, all French breeders of Arabian horses are mobilized to save these horses.
This is the first time such a motion is triggered and our love for Arabian horses is our strength.
We call for signatures to the world. We hope this petition will play in the favor of a judjement to first remove the horses, even before a trial starts against her.

Posted - 09 Mar 2011 : 7:58:48 PM I don't understand the situation on the Continent. I remember a welfare case concerning Trakehners in Spain and it seemed that the welfare bodies were powerless to act. It seems that in cases like these the government seizes them and I then think typically the rescued horses are put to sleep. I think the local welfare organisation had to fight hard to even get a vet in past the local police to tend to the animals. I hope I have the situation wrong or at least it is different in France.
Edited to say that I have signed it too. |

This is a translation in english of the french text of the petition below: ....
Author: Association Cheval Solidaire 3 Place du Rumat 09500 Mirepoix chevalsolidaire@yahoo.fr Magali Puech - President
To the attention of the Director of Ariège Veterinary services
Since October 2010, we have discovered and followed a group of mistreated arabian horses that thier owner starves, leaves without care, over one meter of manure. Some horses and goats have already died and about 15 others are in the same case. Despite claims filed by neighbors and other associations like ours, to the police, vet services and court, it seems nothing moves! In the meantime, animals are in great distress.
In consequence we request from the Vet Services of Ariège who follow this case for 2 years now, to finally give thier authorisation so the Court can deliver to the animal defense associations a conservatory seasure during the time the trial gets in place, so we can legally remove the animals and procure the necessary urgent care they require.
