At our last 'Horse Feeding' session on the 6th March 2011, we are pleased to annouce that ESMA fed a total of 367 horses, with enough food to sustain them for one week. We are currently refining the feeding process to ensure that all the malnourished horses will be given enough food to sustain them according to their current body weight and condition. We noticed last time that an improvement in their body weight has started to show, and we are seeing fewer and fewer really skinny horses now.Unfortunately we have been informed that The Brooke Hospital has decided to stop their feeding program in which they were giving them an additional 1k of corn per day, in addition to our 1.5kilos of mixed feed per day, which means that after our refining assessment is finished we will need to provide all the feed for the horses, as no other Organisation (as far as we know )will be doing so now.We have been informed that the 'Four Paws' Association will be feeding them tomorrow, before their team goes back to Austria. We are most grateful for this feeding and the one they did last week too. They also gave us a donation to cover one 'feeding session' on their behalf. We also heard that they have been in Upper Egypt doing feedings for the horses there. We are glad to hear that there are tourists in Upper Egypt, unfortunately we cannot report the same situation here in Cairo. Please continue to support us in our endeavers to feed the horses, at least until another bigger organisation steps in to assist, or replace what we are doing. Without your donations The ESMA Horse Feeding Program would not be possible. Thanks on behalf of those malnourished and hungry horses. Posted - 11 Mar 2011 : 10:22:13 PM I spoke to them today Lisa , they say it is NOT true , they are NOT going to stop feeding., they are still active in Cairo, as well as a host of other places, and will still distribute food for as long as is needed through the crisis. they dont understand why these things are being said and are looking into it. I think they tried to log on yesterday but were having problems logging on.

Posted - 11 Mar 2011 : 10:08:30 PM Please let us know Lynda, it seems incredible, I know Brooke are very careful in trying to objectively assess how money is spent for the most benefit and will always be re-evaluating, this but this situation does seem to warrant immediate and ongoing support .....(understatement). |
