Posted - 01 Mar 2011 : 8:07:31 PM Hi All, Not sure if there has been a recent thread on this but was wondering whether anyone has any pictures or videos to share of their Arabs jumping?
Me and Tao are getting into the swing of it now and he seems to be enjoying himself very much which is great as I would like to BSJA in the future with him so theres hope yet lol! Wanted to share this video of us jumping at home today. As you all know we've been a bit hit and miss on the correct canter lead going clockwise but we will get there! Anyway, He's enjoyed the 1'9 and 2'3 classes we've done locally over winter and am hoping to do more with him this year, building it up nice and slow. Taking him to a local cross country course in April which will be great fun.
Would love to see everyones pics of them jumping be it XC or SJ

P.S Dont know how to post videos on here so heres the link: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=185465768155389&comments |

Posted - 09 Mar 2011 : 11:41:12 AM SKTao he wasn't my first, my dad breeds arabians but Jade was one I bought for myself to ride he was my first bought horse lol.. been around Arabians since I was about 5 or 6 years old lol.. I had to sell him as I moved interstate & had left him with my mother to look after till I got back, he needed a lot of care to keep him in top condition as his teeth had been sadly neglected by the previous owner & he'd been caught in a fence at some time in his life & needed special care of his back legs.. all up he was a bit too much for my mum to handle.. he was fantastic when you were on board but could be a bit iffy on the ground just due to some issues.. he was lovely to ride though.. was a sad day but I know I made the right choice for him as it would have been sad for such a versatile riding horse to be stuck in a paddock not doing anything he was only 16 at the time..
since then my dad has bred some lovely Arabians, one mare of which I had originally had my eye on as she was a big girl (over 16hh) with a big sweet heart, good legs & a stride that could take your breath away, sadly she ran herself through a fence & ended up unconcious, they brought her back but she has never been the same, will make a lovely broodmare though, so instead I now have my eye on one of dads ex stallions, he's now a gelding, & i'm just waiting on him being broken in.. he's only about 14hhs. lovely grey fellow & purebred, I haven't had a purebred personally since Jade, while I love my Arabian Ponies it would be nice to have a purebred again, especially one thats not too big but bigger than what I have now.. something a bit more competetive.. :)
by the way, your grey is lovely.. I understand what your saying about position & him getting over comfortably.. you guys look nice together..:) |

Posted - 09 Mar 2011 : 11:12:08 AM Aww your first boy sounds fab Kazhak, how come you had to sell him? Sounds liek he will have given alot of confidence to other who needed it too :-)
Another picture of me and tao jumping last night. Once again, I know my position isnt fab at the moment but that doesnt bother me, Im more concerned about him getting over the jumps happily and calmly for now, the rest will follow

Posted - 09 Mar 2011 : 08:57:16 AM wow some of those jumps are massive.. beautiful pics of Arabians jumping.. my first bought purebred used to be a jumper before I got him.. I used to hate jumping but I took him to our local area show & decided to go in the jumping with him.. just a shame I never got pics.. he was a big 15.3 grey boy with 4 white socks & a big blaze & boy he knew his job on a jumping course, I remember all I had to do was just sit still & let him get on with it, really built my confidence up, I'm sad I had to sell him a few years back as he was such a gentleman, we were in the ribbons that day :) (he even won the barrel racing event too lol.. even though he was the biggest in the event lol.. had a massive gallop & could stop on a dime) boy do I miss him, still he is off giving other people much needed confidence so what more can one ask :) I'm hoping to get another purebred in the next couple of years, although he will be a bit over 14hh but he's athletic as anything & runs on the smell of an oily rag. maybe I will do some jumping with him.. :)..
for now I will be content with my 13hh Arabian pony stallion who does enjoy a go over some small jumps when I set them up or find some logs in the bush.. he's a bunch of fun too, got some real energy has that one & can turn quickly :) |

Posted - 06 Mar 2011 : 4:52:41 PM Roseanne - thanks for putting the pics of Himself up. I love seeing them again. I will try to put some up I was only sent recently of him jumping at the age of 31 at the 'meet' following the hunting ban. We only meant to spectate but.....
I will also try to put some up of my 'new' Anglo 75% arab, mostly Crabbet(not so new now) who loves endurance but also LOVES jumping and we did our first pre novice ODE of 2011 yesterday. Double clear, bless her cotton socks-if we can just get the hang of the dressage.....

We did the show jumping with Taragun as part of N Staffs. The team competitions at Malvern are really good fun - so have a go. Contact N Staffs and they'll help. Watch out for Cornwall - they always field a VERY good team
Pintoarabians - thank you for the photos of Ruby Shy. Just love her to bits.
Agree with everyone - don't we have a wonderful breed of horse? And isn't it lovely to see the smiles of the riders?
Goosebumps! |
